  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not sure if I'm asking this in the right section. I'd just like to ask something that's on my mind for quite a while. When the Bible says in Acts 14:22 that through many tribulations we must enter the Kingdom of Heaven, what sort of tribulations does it talk about? I'm pretty sure it's not just every and all but I might be wrong. Does it talk about troubles that we have due to our sins or that we have when we are sinned against?

God bless!

Christ said, "In this world you will have tribulation, but have courage for I have conquered the world."

Following Jesus and participating and living in the kingdom of God means enduring through every trial, trouble and tribulation that comes our way. For the early Christians and for many still today, that doesn't just mean spiritual trial, but true life-or-death trial as is part of the narrative in Acts 14 where Paul was dragged out of the city and they stoned him until he blacked out and they left him, supposing him dead.

In other words, being a Christian isn't meant to be easy. It means following Jesus no matter what travails we may encounter, and through them all we show our faithfulness to Christ and the kingdom He proclaimed.

Trials are not always linked to sin. Look at all Paul and the other apostles endured in the way of trials, and the greatest reason for these trials is because they apposed sin.

Trials are the tools used to force spiritual growth (in a willing heart.)

Thanks for the replies guys. I agree with you; those trials may apply to just anything from something as simple as car not working to getting a deadly disease but we always have to keep this in mind: God is in control, therefore we can do anything with Him. :)

God bless you!
