  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well...she is finally at that age where she is paying attention to them...can hold soft rattles and hits the ones on her swing. She is so cute when she does it. She is just so focused..she crosses her eyes and hits and hits away. So she just turned three months on the 20th of this month. What are some good toys that you bought you children at this age to play with that they were really interested in? We have some rattles..tummy time play set(and lots of older toys)...but, she seems to be more interested in stuff that she can hit with her fists...while she sits up. We have a walmart and toys r us that we plan on visiting this weekend to look around and buy her something...any suggestions?

Emily turns 3 months on 30th, so only 10 days younger than your little girl.

She isn't holding rattles yet, but mind you, she was 2 weeks early, and sometimes I think that makes a difference.

She is fascinated with her hands so I don't think it will be long though. She stares at them all the time.

I guess maybe just go and have a look at what they have. Sometimes the boxes the toys come in will have the recommended age group on there. Does she have one of those things that have the toys hanging down. The one we have for Emily is shaped like an A kind of thing, then has toys hanging from the top, she likes to swipe at that when she is sitting in her bouncy chair.

To be totally honest with you, it sounds to me as though she has enough toys. Maybe hold off a little until she is a bit older and really bored with what she has.

It's strange. Sometimes you buy something that you think your child will just LOVE, and they end up pushing it aside. The toys that my kids liked the most were the more simple kind, small, that didn't have flashing lights, batteries, singing songs, talking, bleah.... Rattles are nice. One of those shape sorter buckets is a good toy - though 3 months is a little young. Stackable cups or stackable rings are a good buy. Someone once told me: the higher the battery power the lower the brain power. I tend to agree with that.

As far as older toys.... my son's favorite toys for the last 6 months have been, and yes he returns to them over and over again, are 1. a board with buttons you can push and they will light up or if you push the Sun it plays a song and he dances with it. 2. A fisher price "saucer" that I never would have bought, it was given to us, and when you rock it it spins a ball in circles and sings a song...... and he dances with it. My son is obsessed with songs and dancing, he's getting pretty good actually. ;) Both of those are high battery power..... I know your theory is wrong hehe :)

I have one of those gyms...she is not to interested in it...Just like the tummy time set she plays with it just for a minute and then she is tired of it and cries. I have attached some new toys to her swing and she seems to really love those..I think she really prefers to be sitting up...we have a walker....but, it has not support for her head really...so she just could sit in it and play with the things on top...I tried to use the thing we put in her car seat..but, it didn't work. I do buy her stuff from the thrift store all the time...mostly older things..it's rare for them to have infant toys...I did get two rattles yesterday though for .10 each. When we went to wal-mart last night...she was finally awake to go through the toy dept. so I tested toys on her....out of all of them...a butterfly that makes noise and lights up...that can also be a teether won out. She can't hold it yet..but, enjoys when we show it to her. I thank you all for your suggestions...I am still interested in hearing about older toys to. I know next month we are going to get her jumping johnny...so when she is ready for it she will have it.

Yeah, that battery thing is just kind of a generality:)

'Course, it all depends on the child too. My kids have been given those leap frog games and alphabet learning games. I have to take the batteries out before they begin to corrode. DD likes dolls, and DS likes Hot wheels.

We call them shakey shoes. They are like little socks and they have a rattle or bell in them. They make noises when they kick their legs. My kids loved them.
Oh yeah she loves those...she only has two pairs though...we have a little duck pair and a frog pair. She is just now discovering she has hands and feet...so they work out great...plus rattle...which she loves to hear stuff rattle. She can stare cross eyed at her hands bawled up in a fist...seems like forever..lol...just cooing at them. Maybe she doesn't need toys...just body parts. ^_^ I sometimes put soft soled shoes on her when we go out(it's o.k...I use to work in a children's shoe store also)....she loves to hold the laces and try to pull her feet up to her face..lol...it's really cute. We put her duck socks on last night and that seemed to keep her occupied when we had to go get one of those bottle warmers for the car from toys r us. We also got her one of those pooh bear bouncy seats last night at wal-mart...they were on sale btw...good deal 19.00 I think they are closing them out. She seems to really enjoy it and it looks and feels so comfy. At first she just stared and stared at everything....and I showed her she could swat at them. Then about ten minutes later...she had one of the rings from the overhead bar in her hand..cooing and such....kicking around.
