I enjoy Tool, I don't listen to the words, and I never really felt too drawn in...

Oh well.

I'd like to point out something in the first post:

Bright Eyes... Man, I was really depressed and I felt like turning them on and I nearly killed myself. I was crying so hard that it hurt, I wanted to vomit. Instead I took a bunch of my antidepressant pills and ...yeah.

Even though I didn't want to be sad, I still listened to it. It drew me in; I thought that it would be something to make me feel better.

But no.

it's my belief that if you feel "drawn in in a bad way by music", the problem isn't the music.
i think what the original poster was reffering to is this:

as a christian, sometimes you feel like the Holy Spirit convicts you of certain things. Some christians can't function right if their headphones are blaring negative messages. Others can. It's hard to say exactly where to draw the line with music. because it's a form of art, self expression. But if you've ever listened to Tool, you know how incredible they sound, and their sound almost becomes addictive. the problem is that Maynard's lyrics are sometimes blatantly against christ (look at the lyrics to Judith by APC). Some christians say that they don't have a problem with that, while others do.

the song i mentioned above (judith) says "F*** your God, your Lord, your Christ!!" For Christians who have a love relationship with christ, it's hard to listen to someone say something like that about the person that you love.

so about your statement. I think the original poster had a conflict. She loved Tool's sound, but the Holy Spirit was convicting her of it.
