  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i will be done with my 2 years associates in Computer Engineering Technology in fall of 07. i can go off to a 4 year college 60 miles away as a junior and get my bachelors in computer and electrical engineering technology. my 2 year would transfer and let me go into the bachelors as a junior. also heres the next decision. i could stay here and go to the local university and get a bachelors of science in engineering with a focus in mechatronics. mechatronics is mechanical, computer, and electrical engineering. very cool stuff. i could live at home, use my 2 year degree to get a job, and go to school at nights. if i go to the other college go get the electrical and computer engineering degree i would probably end up having a horrible job for the next 2 years and such. i also want to get out of my house and live on my own a bit and meet new people. i would save money by going to the local university because its only 4000 a year while the other university is about 10,000 a year due to living on campus and food. either way im getting a bachelors in engineering. i just don't know what path to follow. maybe you guys could give some advice? would paying almost 20,000 to live on campus be worth it for 2 years or is it just a waste of time and money?

I'd say it would be a waste of time and money. You mentioned that you'd probably end up with a not-so-good job if you went to the other school. That alone would seal my decision when looking at the long term effect of things. Think about $20000 more that you can keep....Also, take mind of whether or not you will have to take out a loan for that other school. That would add up to $20000+ down the drain, and the nice present of a bill from 20 years ago from a loan in your mailbox...

Honestly, I would live at home, use my 2 year degree to get a DECENT job, and go to school at nights. You're gonna meet new people, you'll have class rooms full of them. And, man, did you ever live in a dorm? Yeesh! It's like a minimum security prison. Hated it!
