i tryed to do a search using christian forums search so not to restart a topic already in a forum but i got a question

Do you guys feel that it is sinful for men/woman to have a tounge/body piercing and if so can you show me biblical backings that speak of these things.

and also if there is a scripture on it why is it ok for woman to have there ears piercied and not men have piercings

I would never get my tongue pierced, but for purely esthetic and health concerns. They're perhaps the most non-esthetic and difficult to maintain piercings you can get. Eyebrows are always class though. ;)

nah there not difficult to maintain not at all i think there esthetic lol it would really be in your view of things would it not??? i think eyebrow piercings kinda look werid but thats all about, to each there own right. but health concerns?

there is just as many with all other piercings than the rest, and you got less a chance of an infection with a tounge piercing than any other piercing cause the natural bacterial defences in your mouth.

sure it has been said it can damage your gums and teeth but that is if you wear very large/long steel bars. if you put in an acryllic or anthor non hard metal and a smaller bar it cant harm you much any. most of the so called health issues is myths.

iv had my tounge piercied 2 times, i have perfect teeth/gums and the only time i have gum/teeth issues is in the first 3 days of the piercing cause the extra long steel bar you must use the first 2 weeks for healing

but other piercings can hold the same amount of health risks as any -_0.

and the oral studys on teeth are not fully proven to my knowlage they all start with blah blah "could" blah blah

but ya beauty is in the eye of the beholder

plus its nice to have somethen just for you and you can choose to show it to others or hide it not like other piercings -_0

Call me a grumpy old man but I think its disgusting. Seeing someone that has a face that looks like its had a fight with the contents of a toolbox does not appeal to me.
What do these extreme peircings and tattoo people do when they have to act normal, like at a wedding or a funeral?

define normal?.

what your talking about in a sense is judging a book by its cover.

i currently have 2 tattoos 1 takes up my entire right forarm i have been to funerals etc,

99.9 percent of people who goto funerals wear long sleaves etc, but i would not be ashamed of not wearing it, As i said before beauty is in the eye of the beholder (and most of the time unless its family, the people you hang around accept you for who you are and if they died they wouldent want you to be ashamed of yourself because they like who you are etc.)

But ya, piercings have happended for ever tattoos also its beautiful,

some people like art on walls some like it on skin

same cup diffrent brand of tea

We are told not to adorn ourselves with gold but with our behavior.

1 Peter 3:3-5 NET
(3) Let your beauty not be external — the braiding of hair and wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes —
(4) but the inner person of the heart, the lasting beauty of a gentle and tranquil spirit, which is precious in God's sight.
(5) For in the same way the holy women who hoped in God long ago adorned themselves by being subject to their husbands,

1 Timothy 2:9-10 NET
(9) Likewise the women are to dress in suitable apparel, with modesty and self-control. Their adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing,
(10) but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess reverence for God.

Some of it comes down to why you are doing it. Is it to fit in? To look good?

I don't really see it as a big thing. Though if your tongue gets infected and swells up you might disagree. Tongues just look soooooo attractive with pus oozing out of the wound. You must excuse me, my microbiology training makes me think of anyone who pierces their tongue as asking for big trouble.

The worst is these amateur tatoo and piercing parties. Just as well share needles with intravenous drug users. Lots and lots of people now have hepatitus and other diseases as a result to the practice. Funny but having your liver shutdown or an outbreak of herpes doesn't seem to improve one's looks either.

Men adorning themselves with jewels isn't talked about much, it just wasn't that common then.

I don't think the question is one of why not, but of why? Why pierce yourself? How is it useful, what is gained? How does being pierced show love of God, yourself, or others?

I would call the practice of several people getting pierced in a party type of setting as sinful, because such a practice does indeed spread disease and is unsafe, it shows a significant lack of caring for yourself and others.

Take them out? :D Or for tattoos wear long sleeves.

Seven ear, three eyebrow, tongue and two lip piercings here. I don't always wear even close to all of them, just what I feel like.

Nothing wrong with piercings or tattoos, sometimes people just get too worried over such inconsequential details. I'm fairly certain God doesn't care if someones upper arm says 'mom' on it or not :p

Going by this line of reasoning, what purpose is there in owning a pet? Or buying a nice car as opposed to something that just does the job? Or any number of things, you know what i'm saying :)

If we truly lived within the box presented in this concept then we would spend our entire days on our knees praying or evangelizing with the occasional bathroom or meal break.

^^ that is subjective to what a group of set people find suitable, millions of people find things i wear suitable etc.

^^ lol no not to fit in im in rual alabama defitnatly not to fit in, i have it because i like it and i enjoy it and its a part of my self expression
if i wanted to fit in i would dress in ambrocombie fitch and other preppy wear

^^ that only happens if you are un hygenic or do not listen to the doctor/piercerings instructions for aftercare etc
i know alot of people who have had there tounge piercied over 10 years with perfect teeth etc,

if your dumb enough to let someone pierce you without a new needle and new prongs then thats your own fault, thats like buying meat from a guy on the side of the road.

why buy named brand clothes why wear a watch or necklace, ? cause you like it of course

Nothing wrong with that at all :) I can completely understand it not appealing to many (or even most) people, as long as those people don't want to force others to conform to their aesthetic tastes.

From everything I've heard from my family, who work Emergency Rooms (mother, cousin and aunt right now) - they get quite a good deal of people coming in suffering from overly bloated, infected tongues stemmed from improper care of a tongue piercing. I won't get into the details because they're gross, and I've seen it first hand with a former friend of mine.

I have not heard of any other piercing holding the same type of risk associated with tongue piercings. But you're right, it is highly subjective and I have no moral or ethical issue with tongue piercings, or any other piercing.

do this, take a rusty used needle and pierice your eyebrow and then dont properly take care of it or wash it,

lets see how nice that looks and what form of health risk you got in a month or so,

also there is tons of health risks with navel and nipple piercings but ya, -_-

most the health risks that can happen with tounge rings end in about 1 - 7 days of getting it, i.e metal allergy/swellings,

the first time i had my tounge done it took about 3 weeks for it to heal this time it took about 2 days (i had to take it out cause i went to a christian missionary program they dont even allow long hair lol !) so i just got it redone

other healthrisk happens in over 50 - 60 years of when its piericed, im 21 in 60 years ill be 81 so if my teeth arent out already when im 81 then im doing good lol

also all of the pericing hold the same healthrisks but not the swellings or unproven tooth decay issue that is true,

also read up about navel piercings there is tons of issues with it and it can effect ms and other problems etc

 Facial piercings make my eyes water. :D

Except for the ears, of course, but just a few, please.

FWIW, a college friend did mine when I was anesthesized by a pitcher of beer. She used more alcohol on a needle, a match, ice cubes and a cork and I was the ONLY one to not get infected ears. That said, I wouldn't do it again.

I have my ears done twice on both side, once up the top and my bellybutton done. I think there's nothing wrong with piercings. It's your body. I was lucky to never have any complications with my piercings, except for the first time I ever got my ears pierced, they got infected and I had to take them out.
