  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Tomorrow, I'm getting baptised! :)

What an odd feeling I have...I'm excited and yet humbled at the same time!

Today I am preparing for my baptism tomorrow. It feels so good to be dedicating my life to Jesus! I know He already knows, but I've been talking to Him all day about it. I just know that when my Pastor raises me from the water, I'm going to cry. I'm really having a hard time getting my emotions in check.

Will some of you please share your baptism experiences with me? Any tips for "holding it together", so to speak? I don't want to let my emotions rule me, but I'm finding it difficult to not be moved by my experiences with the Holy Spirit. Am I wrong to cry so much about my salvation and dedication?

Your kind responses will be appreciated! :)

Congratulations!!

I was terrified at my baptism. I have a big fear of water, and a lot of control issues. I'd seen my pastor baptize people and he didn't hold their noses - I was so scared!

So unfortunately, I don't remember much about it. But, God got me through, and I'm so glad I did it. That said, my advice is to try to be as aware as you can while it's going on. It's something you're going to want to remember. :)

Oh, I think it is wonderful. Tears are washing all the old stuff out of the soul. Be Happy. The Holy Spirit will revive you like nothing ever before. I know you will be beautiful. To see one baptised is awesome and especially when you know that person is for real. Congratualtions. What a Blessed day.

Thanks, everyone! :) Truthfully, I've been a little concerned about my outpour of emotion. I've shared this with a few other online friends, and was criticised a bit for my behavior. Yes, I do know what I've been saved from! Eternal separation from God!!

It's almost 11 pm here, and I must shuffle off to bed soon. I'll come back tomorrow afternoon, and share my experience with you! Thanks again so much, and if you would...

Would you mind saying a prayer for me? I'm a little nervous, because like snootchface (love that name! lol) , I too have some issues with water and being in control. I'd really appreciate your prayers!

Much love to all, from your sister in Christ,
Gayle :)

Congratulations! I am praying for you. :prayer: It is ok to be emotional. It is such a wonderful thing to be baptised and to dedicate yourself to the Lord. Someone once told me - when you are saved, Christ is put into you - His life is put into your human spirit - and when you are baptised, you are put into Christ - like having a divine force field around you. :groupray:

Congratulations!!! When I decided to be baptized, I was 24 I had just accepted Christ and wanted to follow Christ in obedience, by taking this outward expression of faith. It was wonderful January 16th 1994 We had a beautiful worship service outside... and I was baptized in a jacuzzi... (our church didn't have a baptismal they were still under construction) It was truly a really special day.

Praise Jesus! It is done! :amen:

This was the most wonderful thing I have ever experienced! Everyone was so nice, and made me feel like family. I was a little scared, but I got lots of hugs and that helped me through it.

The water was warm and Pastor Kevin's words were so comforting. My heart was so full, that I stayed for the second service, so I could watch others get baptised. My church has so many people, that they have 2 services to accomodate everyone. I'd love to post a link to their website, but I don't know if I'm allowed to do that, so I'll play it safe and refrain.

And yes, I cried. After it was over and I changed clothes, I stood along a far wall of the church and just cried like a baby. There I was...singing and crying, and crying and singing! LOL It was GREAT!

Thanks so much for your replies and prayers! Honestly, I've never felt so good...so complete...in my entire life.

What an awesome God we have! Praise the Lord!!

I just became baptized today as well! It was so wonderful. I felt a calmness in me when I was under the water and I feel great today. I am so excited about my future and want to tell everyone about it. I am so happy for you. I've been pretty sick lately and I pray to God every day that I will get better so that way I can better serve him. Praise God!!!:amen:

Oh, what a wonderful day! Congrats on your baptism, arzu! :D I'll be praying for you, and I hope that your health improves! All things are possible with God!

I really liked how my Pastor introduced the procedure to our congregation, by saying that it's an act of obedience to our Heavenly Father...that no, it doesn't save us, but rather that it's the next step after being saved...that even Jesus was baptised because it pleases God, and that it is "right". Well, he said it in such a way that it was beautiful...I'm not so good with words sometimes, so I'm paraphrasing him here.

Thank you for the blessings, dale! Your pm made me smile! :)

And if anyone would like to see my church, just go here:

http://www.thelivingroom.us/bb.htm

Those are my Pastors on the home page; Pastors Kevin and Beth Green. And if you have the time or inclination, check out the multimedia section with videos and photos. They really catch the loving spirit of our congregation. We love to SING!!!!!
