  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An additional $8 trillion a year and no way, at least not from the candidates, to pay for it. You are OK with that?
I have no idea where these numbers are coming from, so I really don't have anything substantive to be OK or not about.

But here in reality, Donald's supporters seem to have zero issues with the extra debt from his antics, so what's the worry about some more?

Can anyone say why my tax dollars should be spent on 15th century technology (walls) that border crossers can compromise in a matter of hours?

Would it not be more rational to examine the root causes of illegal immigration and address those?

I don't think many conservatives are all that serious about curving illegal immigration because going after all the companies who hire undocumented immigrants would hurt the U.S. economy.

...exactly. Trump personifies the issue: profit over respect for American labor.

Some of his undocumented workers are calling him out and exposing him: How two housekeepers took on the president — and revealed that his company employed undocumented immigrants.

Additional $4+ trillion in spending a year?.....more than double the current spending levels.....oh yeah lower deficits would definitely in sight.....NOT!

Ah, so not going to address the facts in my post and continue the scare mongering? Well, that is a response I suppose.

Tom Homan: Prepare for 'out-of-control border' if Dem wins in 2020: 'This will cause the country to collapse'
Informative video in that link.

Former acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] Thomas Homan warned Democrats seeking the White House in 2020 against "enticing" illegal immigrants with lax immigration policies, in an interview that aired Sunday, saying America could face an "out-of-control border" if a Democrat unseats President Trump.

"They say they care about these people, they care about children dying and women being raped... they need to look in the mirror because if you keep offering enticements... 'sanctuary cities'... free health care... in-state tuition... people are going to put themselves in harm's way to come to this country," Homan told Steve Hilton on "The Next Revolution."

Yay, more ridiculous right-wing fearmongering. It’s odd how weak and fragile these guys seem to think this country is.

As a side note, it’s sad that this guy is one of the most notable alumni of my alma mater.

Not about fear.
About out of control border.
Shared by (Expert) on the subject.
M-Bob

It's trying to monger fear about an "out of control border."

It's failed to make me fearful at all bc I know that the "expert" is Fox News contributor peddling out ignorant propaganda, and that he is actually the one to be fearful of. It's also foolish to believe him given his history of lying & lawlessness while at ICE. On his watch human beings were tortured, afflicted with shameful cruelty, for profit. He acted in a way that would make Christ weep.

What specifically has been tried?
Where have you been? Foreign aid has been going on for decades in an attempt to increase living standards in central/south american countries. If people are happy and can provide for the families where they live they are not likely to immigrate illegally. Point to one of those countries where that aid has helped substandtially increase living standards.

I have posted several articles about this....maybe take some time and go back and read them.....but here is another one.....

The Democrat-backed welfare programs in the Green New Deal are even more daunting. According to the study, "guaranteed jobs" and "universal health care" would together cost each American family as much as $582,000 or $80.6 trillion in total.
The Democrats' $100 Trillion Agenda Could Easily Tilt the Nation

So how much is $100 trillion....well, the GDP for the entire world is estimated to be $80T/yr.
The $80 Trillion World Economy in One Chart

Maybe spend some time actually reading what people post......

The second fact kinda makes the claims in the first link seem a bit, well, hysterical. I mean, if made up some numbers I would at least make them sound credible rather than being larger than the entire world economy. I get that some readers will buy anything, but not all of them are that gullible.

Not to mention the issues in the article itself. Double-counting the cost of universal health care, for one. Forgetting that we're already paying for health care today - and pretending that current cost wouldn't go away if the source of funding moved - is another.

So taken as a whole, it is extremely hard to take this sort of thing seriously.

El Salvador has had some success with programs designed to divert young people from joining gangs. See what works and expand it. The most recent waves of illegal immigration was caused by violence. Many urban neighborhoods across Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are controlled by cartel funded gangs. It's an uphill battle given the millions of dollars the drug cartels have at their disposal...

Then come up with your own numbers....something the democrats seem loathe to do....and they also don't seem to be disputing the numbers put out there....so, go ahead, give it your best shot. Remember that approx 20 trillion US GDP belongs to the people....about 4T of that goes to the gov thru taxes....how much more gets taken from the people until system collapses....

I see. You are able to discern facts from the future? Much like Casandra I do not find your claims of fortune telling credible.

The numbers are there....now if you can get projections from democratic contenders on those items listed in the posts please feel free to post them here. My guess is many of us would be interested in seeing them.....good luck finding them though cuz I think they know it would scare off their supporters. Personally I would like the CBO to give an estimate (even though these items have not yet been proposed to congress) though they have a tendency to low ball figures since they do work for congress.

Interesting. Instead of looking to get an actual accurate measure, the answer looks to be to just make up whatever numbers one wants.

I doubt many have the time to bother dealing with right-wing propaganda.

I'm amused that none of this fear mongering over random numbers showed up after Donald's tax cuts. Wonder why the sudden worry about it now.

Your friends are probably like-minded to you, probably watch Fox News & still read Facebook. Why should I possibly care what they claim? Your area is the one that elected the Republican politician who committed fraud, after his crimes were already made known. I don't trust that judgement at all.

You live up on a mountain, retired, with your goats. Those who actually live along the border are mostly opposed to the border wall. Especially the landowners. El Paso has vigorously fought against Trump's wall. Stanfordella's professor was the former Republican Secretary of State. She criticized Trump's border wall. In some areas a physical barrier makes sense. In others it's stupid.

Homan's conduct, how he has treated human beings, has been antithetical to Christ's. He's also established himself as a liar, having lied to officials. It is foolish to believe him.

No, the numbers are not there. The numbers are complete fabrications and no more credible then you claims of being able to predict the future.

If anyone thinks the last 20 years have been bad wait and see what happens if one of the far left candidates get in...

The last 20 years has had a Republican at the helm for 11 of them…

Hey, YOU are the one that disagreed with what I posted; it is up to YOU to show that these numbers are incorrect....instead I see deflection....
I doubt many have the time to bother dealing with right-wing propaganda.
Sorta like HRC not having time to visit Wisconson....how did that work out for her? They need to address otherwise the R's will have a field day putting out numbers with no push back....bad news for the D's.
I'm amused that none of this fear mongering over random numbers showed up after Donald's tax cuts. Wonder why the sudden worry about it now.
Still no numbers, huh?.....deflection only carries one so far......
