Nobody is "tormented" in hell ... hell is the grave and a dormant state of unconsciousness ... all rest there until they are resurrected.
Are you SDA?

A vast majority of Christians do not accept soul sleep or death=unconsciousness.

My (somewhat?) JW friend says this all the time, she is VERY offended when people wish her late husband a "happy heavenly birthday" because "he's asleep in death." She was raised in the Church of Christ, and I don't think she was ever baptized JW but attended the meetings at the the Kingdom Hall.

I respect her beliefs. I just don't' agree.

My mom used to be involved with them. They are very cultish and nonsensical imo.

Agreed. My mother's uncle, who was raised Presbyterian, committed suicide in 1979 or '78 because the JWs were taking all of his money. His wife made him convert.

Yeah there is a lot that goes on within the organization. It’s extremely controlling and suppressive. We had them spying on us. Even looking in the windows.

Terrifying!

I know a lot of them do not go to college, and only work part time, but I will not comment further, because I'm getting off topic.

the year of the resurrection.
What strangeness lol.

Many of these near-death experiences have some, shall we say, "odd" testimonies. Some have this "life review" thing that includes a review of the evil things you did...
This is very common and someone just shared with me their experience of seeing everything both good and evil and how it affected everyone even 2 people removed from the action.

This is consistent with Jesus who said you will give an account for every useless word.

Personally, I just try to pray for my sinful self and ( in a nonjudgmental way per Matthew 7:1) for my neighbor. I take it that the earthly living & departed should be in my prayers ( Matthew 22:32). Our Lord’s Prayer ( Matthew 6:9-13) says it all for me on this. I will pray in other ways also but drawing from and yet ultimately to our Lord’s Prayer.

Weeks after surviving what he claimed was a near-death experience in which he was comatose for 10 hours, Fresh Fire USA leader Todd Bentley claimed he traveled in the spirit to the gate of Hell during the ordeal and saw people who had died prematurely, including suicide victims, and their souls were the most tormented in Hell.

In his comments made on New Year’s Eve at Rick Joyner’s embattled Morningstar Fellowship Church, Bentley delivered what he said was a message of hope from God for people who he argues are marked for premature death by the devil through afflictions like suicidal ideation and terminal illness.

He claimed God told him the reason why he had the near-death experience was so he could receive the message that 2025 would be “the year of the resurrection.”

Continued below.
So Samson who was doing Gods call is being tortured in “hell” because he committed suicide ? I don’t think so.

I do not feel comfortable with this at all. Suicide is often committed by those that are not in their right mind. I do not know what to think of these sorts of messages people claim.
On another forum, people who have had near death experiences are predicting gloom and doom for 2025

Ah okay. PM it to me if you get a chance.
There's one where a 12 year old boy saw Jesus and he showed him the world in turmoil with natural disasters and chaos and another world that was like heaven and Jesus told him that Baron Trump would make a decision that would determine which would be our future

I tend to be rather skeptical of these near death experience stories. I'm not saying they didn't experience what they experienced, I'm just skeptical.

It's an interesting question, I don't pretend to know the answer. There are certainly scriptures to support her position. But then again, why were Moses and Elijah with Jesus at the Transfiguration if they were supposed to be asleep in death? Catholics argue that God is the God of the living, not the dead, that's why they call on saints to pray for them, because they consider them alive in Christ. Some people say the soul is indestructable and goes on forever. Don't ask me how it works, I don't know. We'll find out soon enough, I expect.

The only scripture that support her position is from the OT. Belief in life after death was very gradual in Judaism.
