Shabbat shalom! It makes me so sad for them, they are missing out, btw Shabbat Shalom!!!!
You still have not answered my question. What is wrong with the Sabbath? Can you take off from your work everyday to worship God? It's one of His commandments don't you love Him? He said if you love me keep my commandments.
Bring on the condemnation for not observing a covenant not obligated to.The question I asked is what is so wrong with keeping the Sabbath, I did not ask how legalistic I could make the Sabbath, I keep it the way the Bible asks me to, and I don't have a horse . Why would you not want to keep the Sabbath? Does it cut into your busy schedule? Are you too busy shopping, kids sports, NetFlix binge for the Creator of the Entire Universe? He asks His children, to take the His holy day off work and remember Him? Getting everything done so you can spend the day with Him on His Holy day, its absolutely amazing. If you want to miss out on that blessing, it is completely up to you. I am just someone on the internet, I am not going to lord over you, we all have a choice to keep or not keep His commandments, I choose life. Sorry if I am harsh, I just don't understand why people are so against this commandment.
Shalom
Shabbat Shalom in Y'SHUA !Shabbat shalom!
May YAH bless you and keep you
May YAH make His face shine on you and be gracious to you
May YAH lift up His face on you & give you his shalom
I JN 3:23It's your choice I'm not your judge. If you don't want to keep the commandments of God that is between you and God. Shabbat Shalom Buggy
Respond to the scripture and comments and we can continue a dialog. If not I have no reason to think we can have a conversation on this thread topic. It's not at all about being personal , per se.
The point which you and most people seem to miss,
is do parents teach their children or not ?
The "dialogue" is , do parents train their children in Sabbath, or not?Respond to the scripture and comments and we can continue a dialog. If not I have no reason to think we can have a conversation.
Here are several reasons why I don't keep it. God never required Gentiles to keep the Sabbath. Thanks for your reply. Well I guess you have your own commentary the text is pretty clear that He wants us to remember the commandment. They were keeping Shabbat before the law was written when they collected the manna if that is what you are pointing to. I just don't understand why you would not want to keep it? What is wrong with taking God's holy day off to honor Him? I find many blessings in it.
Eze 20:12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
If God first instituted Sabbath at creation for mankind why would He ever say: "I gave my Sabbaths as a sign between Me and those I freed from Egypt?" The fact that a creation Sabbath cant be found in any scripture exposes error from the truth.
Neh 9:14 And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:
Why would it be wrong to say according to a true prophet in the scriptures, that Sabbath was made known by the hands of Moses?
How do you reconcile that He rested on the 7th day after 6 days of creation? Why would you call it a lie, is God a liar was He tired after 6 days? He ceased from His works after He made man. Why do you not attack the rest of the commandments only, this one. Is it ok to covet now or commit adultery, dishonor your parents? Why does this command not require obedience? What about Isaiah 56? Is that not written to the nations? Here are several reasons why I don't keep it. God never required Gentiles to keep the Sabbath.
Saying that God instituted Sabbath at creation is a lie that's easy to expose.
Moses told the Children of Israel that God has given you the Sabbath. If God had institute the Sabbath at creation, He would not make it an exclusive covenant.
God said the Sabbath was a sign between Himself and the Children of Israel.
The bible teaches that Gentiles were strangers and foreigners to God's covenants.
You sound very sincere and if you feel the need to assemble yourself together with others on Saturday then I certainly have no objection. I personally believe Jesus is my Rest and I do rest in Him daily. I get my information from the Holy Writ found in the New Testament. It is clear that Jesus gave Paul council on the state of Sabbath worship along with the remainder of the covenant given only to Israel. The Sabbath is for Christians a mere shadow, Jesus is reality. Jesus said come to me and I will give you rest. Israel didn't find true rest in the weekly Sabbath. The Sabbath was a yoke around their necks. What has changed? You know what got me looking at the Sabbath for the first time? I looked at the Creation account and I saw >>GOD<< the all powerful, all knowing, all everything, and everlasting God... needing to rest? Not a chance... He is God, why would He need to rest? When I asked myself that I realized something, He was setting an example. He was not tired, He was showing us what He expects of those He created. There were no "Jews" for those who want to pin Sabbath on Judaism... it was only God at that point, of course there was Adam who was less than a week old... perhaps Eve.... but that was it.
Now when I saw this I began to study and the first thing that jumped out to me was Leviticus 23. There we find all the feasts, the Sabbaths... all the set-apart days. And these days are called by God, "my feasts," and "the feasts of the LORD." Not Jewish feasts, they do them... as all Israel should. But these belong to HIM. That changes the perception one has when reading what follows. And what follows FIRST? The weekly Sabbath... then the rest of the appointed days.
So, "To whom did God give the Sabbaths?" All of His people.
"Why did He give them?" As a memorial for things He has done, things He is doing, and things He will do. These are days of rest but they are also teaching tools that reveal His intention including all the work of Messiah. He said, "the scriptures testify of me" and seeing there was no NT back then... well...
Blessings.

Very easy to answer John. Nine of the ten were concerning morality. Morality is forever. One of the commands is very specific and concerned Israel only. It was not a command that dealt with morality, it was a ritual command dealing with Israel only, a day to commemorate the freeing of Israel from the Egyptians. Deut 5How do you reconcile that He rested on the 7th day after 6 days of creation? Why would you call it a lie, is God a liar was He tired after 6 days? He ceased from His works after He made man. 12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee.
13 Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:
14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the Lord thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the Lord thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
Has any other nation been delivered from Egypt? Should other nations be obligated to observe a day that was dedicated only to one nation?
Well, who has repented (in 'church') of coveting, of committing adultery, of dishonoring their parents ? These things are hardly ever universally obeyed 'in church', nor are they very often addressed ['spoken to'] in many 'churches',How do you reconcile that He rested on the 7th day after 6 days of creation? And sexual immorality, so sad, my friend had a couple of practicing lezbians witnessing to him and trying to get him to attend the church they attended it was not one of those universal churches either it makes me greived for the body of MessiahWell, who has repented (in 'church') of coveting, of committing adultery, of dishonoring their parents ? unless the assembly happens to be one that honors YHWH , Y'SHUA,and HIS WORD.
i.e. it is not only Sabbath, but all the WORDS of YHWH that they break in many churches I've watched from inside and from outside/ in the news, forums, televised daily.
....that Satan has his foothold.
Ken since God is being an example for His creation, why is there no mention of the Sabbath prior to Ex 16? Why is there no record of God keeping a weekly Sabbath? Sure God does not need rest because He does not get physically tired, but your issue is being an example. You know what got me looking at the Sabbath for the first time?
