What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? Far from it! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?

What truth is this scripture putting forth….?

That God has indeed made a way that the believer can indeed no longer continue in sin….

This is an enormous statement, a most glorious one, if in fact it is true…. But then it is scripture so therefore it must be true if in fact one could understand the truth that was being put forth…. The truth that is being put forth is the truth that a believer should not continue in sin, so any correct understanding of the scripture must produce that fruit…. It can produce none other if in fact scriptures themselves indeed are from God…

This scripture says that the believer is dead to sin, the scripture does not say that sin is dead, but it says the believer is dead to it…. So then what is meant by the saying that one is dead to sin….? Consider……

If one were to fall over dead right this instant and in a few moments Mr Sin would come by and say ‘come on get up, come on let’s go sin’…. It would be impossible for that dead one to get up and go sin because that one was dead and incapable of getting up and responding….. Therefore does scripture say ‘let not sin reign in your mortal bodies’ because now by virtue of being joined with Christ in His death the believer has been set free from the necessity of sinning…. The believer can still sin, if the believer wants to, but the believer doesn’t have to if that one will believe what scripture says when it says one is joined with Christ in His death…. Because he that has died is indeed set free from sin…. For to the degree this truth is grabbed onto to that degree will the believer be set free from sin to walk in newness of life….

Oh, to accept Christ’s salvation on His terms and walk in the truth of it, life is indeed a most wonderful gift and the gift of life in Christ Jesus even a more wonderful…..

Blessings all and may God open up the truths of our salvation in Christ in a deeper and deeper way…..

To our great God and Savior be all glory honor and praise….

Thank you and might I add we as Christians cannot sin because as we have been crucified with Christ; we are indeed dead. We have been raised with Christ and have received God’s Holy Seed, the Holy Spirit, the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. So, our carnal nature no longer lives so there is no more sin in us; we are made holy by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ, where Christ’s Righteousness has been imputed unto us. If there is no sin in the Holy Spirit, and we have the Spirit, there there is no sin in us as believers.

An unbeliever does not have the Holy Spirit in them and their sinful behavior is counted as sin - they are not covered in Christ. But a believer’s sin is not counted as sin because they are covered in Christ’s Righteousness and have the Holy Spirit that cannot sin.

Yes indeed, a dead man cannot walk, cannot talk, can do nothing. We are only alive in Christ Jesus!

Indeed, we are no longer to continue to live in sin, and in Romans 3:20, knowledge of sin is by the Mosaic Law, and in Romans 7:7, Paul would not have known what sin is if it weren't for it. Being dead to sin is referring to being dead to the law of sin, which is the law that Paul referred to in Romans 5:20-21 immediately before Romans 6, which was a law that caused sin to increase. In Romans 5-8, Paul described his desire to do the good of obeying the Mosaic Law, which was given to cause sin to decrease, but contrasted it with the law of sin, which was stirring up sinful passions in order to bear fruit unto death, and which was hindering him from doing the good that he wanted to do. So the freedom from the sin is the freedom from being under its controlling influence of the law of sin, or in other words, we are no longer under the law where sin had dominion over us (Romans 6:14) and are now free to live in obedience to the Mosaic Law without that hinderance.

As the Spirit of Christ so opens the truths written of in scripture in our lives, are we conformed to His image….

Be blessed in that conforming, a fellow believer, Not me
