That's why it's very important to check what kind of feedback a seller leaves before buying.
even then, that sometimes doesn't work. for example, some powersellers have so much positive feedback that it seems that nobody notices repetitive bad feedbacks about a certain negligence on the seller's part. i have had the misfortune of purchasing from some of these sellers...and they won't care if you give them negative feedback because it will barely dent their feedback, e.g. a seller has 20000 positive and 200 scattered negative feedback; instead of fixing any qualm a buyer might have, they may instead choose to ignore the buyer because their positive feedback is not in jeopardy.

True, I make sure I always check their most recent feedback before bidding!

I have no money right now, but I get paid on tues, I'm tempted to go on there now and bid!! :D (hmmm bad thoughts lol)!

This is a daft question but I want to now who else think's e-bay is addictive I have been a member 10 days and I can't get off it, AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! I have been on for about 5 of those 10 days. I've bought about 30 things it's getting a little out of hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who else thinks this is true of ebay?
Ahhhh, eBay. The world's yard sale. I love eBay because you find virtually anything you are looking for. Have an old childhood toy that is missing a part- find it on eBay! Looking for an early edition of a favorite book? Find it on eBay!
(No, I do not work for eBay!) :p
I just really like it. I have bought and sold literally HUNDREDS of items over the past several years.

I originally went on ebay to sell some of my games. Before I knew it, I was on every day after school, for hours at a time looking for the best deals. It got to the point that I was on into 1AM in the morning, knowing I had to get to school in the morning. As a seller and buyer on ebay, I have been involved in almost around 300 transactions. Sadly, almost all the money I recieved from my job went to my "addiction" if you will...

I need to sell some stuff on eBay, thanks for the reminder. :p I don't think I'm addicted, but when I sell, then I can buy with the money I make. It is an incentive to get rid of some of these "collectible" pieces of junk that have been lying around here like forever. :) Then I have some new stuff to lay around cluttering the place up.

I used to do the same thing. In retrospect, that money only goes to buy more junk...

I used to be addicted to it when I first found the website. Now, I don't buy much from there now as I found other things to do with my time and prefer to buy locally when I can. About 90% of the stuff that I've bought on eBay, I've donated to charity/local library or just ended up throwing it away.

I find it rather addicing... especially when I'm in need of camera accessories. I never buy anything expensive like the bodies or lenses, but things like batteries and memory cards I go crazy over! In fact, I just purchased 6 GB worth of Compact Flash cards for my Rebel XT for about the same price I could have purchased 2 GB worth of cards in any store. I know there are many risks with it, but that's why I have very low limits and I don't buy the expensive gear through there.

And as a new form of E-bay addiction... I just opened 5 new auctions to sell my prints! The company I use to sell online also has an option for dropshipping, complete with my own customized invoice! :)

someone sold snow on ebay. Maybe I should go try that :)

lol, actual snow?! How did that work? :p

I'm bidding on a really nice skirt at the mo. Haven't gotton really into it yet, partly coz I've been skint for such a long time, but sometimes with clothes, I have something very specific in mind that I want, so sometimers its easier to search for it on ebay than go waundering around endlessly around shops, looking for something that might not even exist, lol.

But I'm scared of ever bidding on anything really expensive or big on there...I've heard some horror stories from bad sellers, things not turning up, and people taking their money too, no replies to emails etc. I try not to take it too far, and just buy the odd thing :)

Unless you have products that are unique Ebay is very competitive, just like any other store. It's not easy to make a living on Ebay, just like it's not in the real world. You can, but it takes a ton of work, a ton of energy, and some unique products that are prices just right in order to make a living doing it. Now, if it's just your hobby fine, that's different. MUCH different! The ones who do this full-time have Ebay stores and use wholesalers who drop-ship items. You'll find there are many of the same products from many different vendors buying wholesale from the same places. It's crazy. I think Ebay is good for those unique items you can't find in retail stores but for those every-day items you will be much better off going to your local Wal-Mart.

I have about 55 transactions on Ebay (mostly buys) and my rating is 100%. I would like to get deeper into it and makes some extra money but it's not easy. Nothing is easy in life. The only way I could make some money is to join the big guys already out there. Buy a bunch of products wholesale, list them on my Ebay store and make sure they are priced right. Maybe, just maybe some of them would sell. I don't make anything or have unique items. If I did it would be a no-brainer. But as soon as you do find something unique and start marketing it the next guy will steal the idea and make it cheaper and charge less. Happens every day on Ebay!

Well, enough about that. Good luck!

:)
