I am trying to accept Jesus as my savior. But I get no answer, I pray to him and told him to help me, but I got no answer. how long does one have to wait for God to clear my mind?
I would also you like people to tell me how they became a christian
One thing you need to know. This is God's own word, not mine by the way.
You are saved by FAITH in Christ as the Son of God who died for our sin. Through His death and resurrection, we can have forgiveness of sin and eternal life through FAITH.
It's not about a feeling. You won't find a single teaching in the Bible that says you'll "feel" saved.
My testimony is as follows:
I was a wild guy, heavily into rock and roll, did the drugs and alcohol, in a band, partied like no tomorrow.
One day after heavy drinking, I got into a car wreck.
Nearly killed me. I "came to" in an intensive care unit not knowing what had happened to me.
After realizing that I had really messed up my life and was literally at death's door, lying there in that bed, unable to move, eat, roll over, sit up, etc....I asked God what I needed to do to be saved.
I heard one word...."confess"
The next time my parents came into the roon, I told them I'd gotten saved. I didn't feel saved. I didn't feel anything but I made the confession in faith.
Very soon after that, I noticed that there were things about me that were different than ever before.
For the first time I found myself caring about other people. Major surprise to me as I pretty much hated everybody before.
I say myself changing, ever so gradually, in new ways after that.
It's been a process ever since. That was 16 years ago.
Before you believe what anyone tells you about getting saved, believe what God Himself says...
Romans 10:
9 That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.11 For the scripture saith,
Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
It's not aobut a feeling. It's about accepting Christ as God's Son.
If you have sincerely odne this, from a sincere motive, it's done. Period, end.
After doing that, the best thing you can do is get baptized and get yourself into a church with people your own age. Get actively involved in church and get good Christian support and fellowship.
You might or might not get an answer from God's mouth. That's not a prerequisite to salvation. BELIEVE....
