I was thinking about tithing and as my mind wandered over the subject it came to Jesus. I do not recall anywhere in scripture where it said He tithed. He had a money bag that Judas was stealing from so people must have been giving into His ministry. I wonder how He handled it since He was at odds with the leadership of that day? Plus, He was God and man. In a way, He would be both giving and receiving at the same time. The more I thought about it, the more questions it raised. Do you think He tithed? He was still under the Old Testament, right? So doesn't that mean He kept all the laws? But He came to fulfill the law.

Jesus taught others to tithe, so it is reasonable to conclude that He did tithe according to the commandments in the Old Testament. If he did not tithe, wouldn't he be breaking the law.

Matthew 23:23 (NLT) said:
23 "How terrible it will be for you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest part of your income, F130 but you ignore the important things of the law – justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but you should not leave undone the more important things.

Jesus came to fulfull the law and the prophets...The Jews of which He was one beleived in tithing and giving...and I'm sure He did everything that was expected of Him under the Old Testament.

Actually, only those who grew crops or animals were required to tithe. Tradesmen and other occupations did not tithe according to the Law.

Jesus supported tithing during His day because He was still under the law.
