• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I kinda feel akward about posting this. But i'm a Chrisitan girl who's struggling with masturbation. I used to before i was a chrisitan and i learned to stop...but i don't think the problem truely ever went away...obviously...because after about a year, it's back and it's harder to resist.
i don't know if any other chrisitian girls are struggling with the same thing..but i could use some advice and much needed prayer...i'm tired of losing myself to lust.

Praying for you, sister.
There are things you can do to 'make it hard for yourself' in times when you are tempted... I find going out to somewhere public.. even just for a walk in a populated area is a very good way to get away from the situation ....
Praise music is good too... and if you can put it on loudly and dance to it without annoying the entire household, it's even better.
Do you have someone you can talk to about this? It's good to have an accountability partner, who you can phone or contact on msn when you are tempted, just to chat and distract you.

If you need to talk, please PM me... I know how it feels to struggle with this.. and I know you can beat it, because Christ has the victory. It isn't easy though... but remember, God is very, very patient, and He picks us up every time we fall.

I have the same problem. I want to quit it, but that's extremly complicated for me to dp. But hey, I was sure that I will never be able to quit smoking, and I prayed and tryed and failed over and over again. Then after an akward event, I stopped it. My prayers were heard by God, I was tempted of course, but I didn't let go. And now I'm nicotine free for six months.

At the end there's always our choice. Some guy told me that having a clen heart, doesn't mean to have no temptation, but that chastity actualy means to be strong enough to say no to temtations.

"I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." - Romans 12:1-2

Study scriptures like this and others on lust and when you are tempted proclaim them out loud and the devil will flee from you. Remember when Jesus was tempted he always said, "and it is written" the word of God spoken out of your mouth is a powerful thing.
