  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One could say people do not know that swallowing evolution rather than believing God is not known to result in keeping one from maybe getting saved.

Because that's a false dilemma, and anyone who presents it that way would be lying.

It is all part of the devil's tactic to destroy faith in God, and say anything that will delay hinder or keep us from Him and salvation.

We have fundies for that; the devil's out of a job, then.

God clearly told then not to eat the fruit or die.

Not to eat the fruit or what?

I disagree. To come to God one must believe in Him. If various Satanic doctrine of devils are in the way, that hinder belief in Him, such as evolution which offers another creation story altogether, then they do keep men from the salvation of God.

The tree was of the knowledge of both, not just knowledge of evil. Clearly, they had to learn something good in eating it as well as bad.
Yet they did have knowledge of good already, since they knew Good in Person.

And yet, the split/merge/different state past blather keeps far more people away from God than evolution does, and you'd never admit in a thousand lifetimes that it's in any way a Satanic doctrine.

Double standard, or none at all?

Hardly anyone has heard of that particular creation science model. The fact is it points to a God who is real and not a liar also. To call that satanic is to lose touch with any reality.

Knowing Him in Person seems to be a good way to get to know Him to me.

So why don't you try it and let us know how it goes?

If deep space contained materials that were spiritual in nature, then this could not be considered matter. Bottom line..science really does not know. Really really really:)
ma·te·ri·al
məˈti(ə)rēəl/

denoting or consisting of physical objects rather than the mind or spirit.
Wouldn't the term material imply matter?

I agree that science doesn't know though. Technically it can't know anything. Seeing as how it's not a person I don't see why it would be expected to have knowledge either. It's not sentient in nature it's a process used by humans.

Yes, but what else also? Matter in what spacetime and laws? Jesus had a body that exhibited traits of both physical and spiritual after He rose from the dead. Just because we see some hydrogen or something doesn't mean all we think it means in deep space.

Man's wisdom is embodied in science, to a large degree. What 'it' knows' or can do, or uses as a guideline or criteria or claims can be referred to as having to do with science. Science does have a method, and only covers certain things. There are claims all the time from science or in the name of science, or however you prefer to word it.

I still can't believe you are ok with a God who is putting things out there for us to see...that aren't what they look like, despite...looking exactly what they look like. Precisely. Does that really not bother you, that he's messing with you? God must crack himself up.

Science covers certain things...true...but the realm of that expands daily. Whilst the domain of science concerned only things that were very much terrestrial, well, religion (and particularly Christianity) was thrilled. It said "gee, you're showing us how glorious God's creation is. Thank you!", and funded the scientists, and gave them housing and clothing and didn't, well, you know, torture and burn them at the stake and stuff.

But then scientists realized that there was more to it than that, and religion might be telling some...well, porkie pies about whether, you know, the Earth went around the Sun or the Sun went around the Earth and things like that. So religion got its panties all in a twist - because as we all know, religion only makes money when it can claim to be the inerrant truth, and with that supposed "truth", threaten people with burning in a lake of eternal fire if they don't cough up, and as we all know, altars have to be made of gold and gold isn't cheap.

Initially, they just burned the scientists. Because fire is cheap.

But now, they can't do that any more. So they've changed strategies, realizing that science is now a very very very very hard subject and most people just don't care when they have to pay the rent at the end of the month. Most people are...scientifically speaking....dumb. Relatively speaking of course, people aren't stupid, but how many people here can define "Lagrangian" without looking it up? Not many. That's ok. But just know, if you don't understand this stuff, you're missing out one of the most beautiful pictures ever that tells you more about you than anything you've heard about you.

If you believe in God, then to deny that that deity could have created a universe of colossal proportions with something as phenomenal as the mathematical underpinnings we know now to be essentially true (with some gaps)...and instead claim a special little fishbowl universe just put specially here for our pathetically selfish species...then you've reduced your deity to the McDonalds of theistic entities....a creator of a slightly unimpressive universe with little point for a squabbling, petty species that is completely ruining its environment.

We know all that. However I dare you to provide empirical data and experimental evidences that show that the time dilation or differences actually cease at some point in space? That would help your cause.

You demanding evidence is a bit rich, isn't it, when you provide none of your own?

Hey, what does a little star 'look like'!!? Does it look a hundred times bigger than the sun!? Nothing out there looks weird to me.

Get serious. You think it is almost at covering the spiritual!!?

Thank you!", and funded the scientists, and gave them housing and clothing and didn't, well, you know, torture and burn them at the stake and stuff.

They are good to a certain extent. A bit like the Soviet Union used to call some people..'useful idiots'!

But then scientists realized that there was more to it than that, and religion might be telling some...well, porkie pies about whether, you know, the Earth went around the Sun or the Sun went around the Earth and things like that. Now we know that this orbital arrangement we see is part of a temporary state. It may not go round the sun in the new heavens and earth coming! Nor may it have done so in the former state!

Initially, they just burned the scientists. Because fire is cheap.
Now they burn cities.

But now, they can't do that any more. So they've changed strategies, realizing that science is now a very very very very hard subject and most people just don't care when they have to pay the rent at the end of the month. Most people are...scientifically speaking....dumb.
NONE dumber than the poor sods who thought they were smarter than God, and I can now see were foolish and wrong in the extreme.

Relatively speaking of course, people aren't stupid, but how many people here can define "Lagrangian" without looking it up? Not many.

You do it! Let's see how clever a concept it really is. You heard of a 'celebrity roast'? Consider this a so called science concept roast!

That's ok. But just know, if you don't understand this stuff, you're missing out one of the most beautiful pictures ever that tells you more about you than anything you've heard about you.
Get off the cloud kid. Delusion may be at times euphoric, but there is nothing beautiful about calling God a liar and claiming the universe is a freak show of flukes.

If you believe in God, then to deny that that deity could have created a universe of colossal proportions with something as phenomenal as the mathematical underpinnings we know now to be essentially true (with some gaps)..

What does a real real big universe have to do with do with God lying to us about the fact He really created it, and us??
.and instead claim a special little fishbowl universe just put specially here for our pathetically selfish species..

You can't even talk about the human race without insulting and demeaning it! Consider the source of the inspiration for the alternate creation fables!

My Good is lot bigger than this whole universe. This was under a week's work.
