Story time:

I wait. Everyday, I come out here and wait - wait for him. It's been six months since he rode to war. Some ware saying he is dead. I do not believe them. I know he will return. I hold his sword - the gift he gave me before he left. I hope I never have to use it, but if that day comes I must be strong. I must defend my husband's home. That is what he told me before he left, all those days ago.

The castle is always busy, but it is empty without him. I still can't believe I was this lucky, to even marry him in the first place. We met three years ago when he rescued me, and I have been his ever since. I wait every day for his return - oh! return my beloved to me. They say I have gone mad, mad with grief. They tell me he is dead - but that cannot be true. He promised. He swore that he would not die until he held me again.

Alone again with her horse Farrel, Lady Ashleigh breathes a sigh of relief as she escapes into the fresh air after hours in a stuffy room. Born into a time where women were given often in arranged marriages she has already watched as her oldest three sisters have been forced to marry those they did not love. Now as she approaches her 20th birthday, Ashleigh dreams of finding something more. Only her horse knows her deepest wishes though for Farrel has listened for hours while her loving mistress has poured out her dearest wish. Not for romance as her sisters liked to tease, but to be able to take up the position of knight. Ahh to be able to ride as a knight; to fight like a knight; to serve her King as only a Knight of the Round Table was able. Not to serve by bringing food to his table as her cousin Mary had done several months past; but to serve by taking part in amazing adventures - to fight for King and for country. A dream she knows will never become reality. Yet for this hour that Lady Ashleigh has before she must again return to her dreaded embroidery, she will ride her horse and daydream once again of the life she would have if only she were a knight. Grinning as she hugged her secret to herself Ashleigh and Farrel rode off into the woods .... for now this adventure would be enough
