The night was dark..I wrapped my cloak around me, shivering in the piercing needles of rain pelting against my body. "Ahhh, the sky has opened and will not close!" I had never experienced a night so dark. In the split second when lightning ripped through the sky I saw the jagged skyline of trees in the forest. All at once, my horse stumbled and I was nearly jolted from my seat. I shouted out the name of my companion accompanying me to my father's castle. "Cathelene! Can you hear me?" "My-lady I'm coming" I hear faintly in the rushing of the wind. She comes to my side, as drenched as me. We have lost our party somewhere during the storm. "What shall we do?" she asks. "continue, until we find shelter". Surely God has not forsaken me, I think. We must continue. As we push forward through the torrential downpour, the howling of the wind around us, I think about what will be there waiting. And my stomach twists inside of me....So much am I in thought of this that I do not notice the lights ahead in the distance. "Isabelle, look! There are lights ahead!" We urge our tired horses to go just a bit further, as the rain begins to let up for a bit. As we approach the drawbridge, the guard greets us, and Cathelene answers we are from King Henry's household. The guard immediately opens the door, helps me from my mount, carrying me inside. The lord of the manor comes to greet us, as the guard announces us. The warm crackling fire makes me weak, and warms my insides. I loosen my cloak and remove it, and as I shake my hair to free it from the rain, his eyes meets mine, and time stands still. In a split second I know this is the man God has saved for me, and I for him, but I also know instinctively there will be a battle. A war will be fought, a war of a red rose, and one of a white rose. Our daughter would be born from this marriage, Elizabeth....and the war of the roses will continue....throughout time......

Name: Christine Marie Charlotte Girard, a Duchess in France, 17th Century

Description:

Christine is, in actuality, the mistress of the large castle that sits behind her in her portrait. She has lived by that vineyard her entire life, hence her knowledge of good wine. Her engaging outfit is due to the fact that she is holding her annual Fine Wine Ball this evening. She stands in the middle of her vineyard because she has always felt the need to be free from the confinements of her house. Her husband, the Duke of La Tremoille, is, as usual, in a flurry over the banquet preparations, so Christine chooses to let her hair down in the vineyard, trying to free her soul from the restrictions of ordinary life.

Uh oh, I just realized that everyone is basing their characters off of real people. I sort of made mine up...

Were we supposed to base them off of real people? Because if so, I'd be willing to change in a heartbeat! I thought I should check though, since, as far as I was concerned, there was no Christine, Duchess of La Tramoille.
