It's not about justification or assigning blame.
It's about not letting people die in the gutter like rats. No matter who they are or how they ended up there.
Really?
I thought forgiveness and care for the poor and weak was christ-like.
Apparantly not.
Right here:Where are people "dying in the gutter like rats"?
I though that was only for final judgment? You thought wrong. God requires repentance before forgiveness.
I though that was only for final judgment?
I find your lack of empathy on this to be rather disturbing. It seems as though you're just searching for reasons to blame people for the situations they find themselves in.Cause of these deaths please.
That has nothing to do with how we should treat each other in this life. I'm not going to hold a grudge against anyone or refuse to help them because they didn't ask for forgiveness from my particular Deity."Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38

I read your link. The cause of death of most cited are 'confidential', probably because most died of drug overdoses, HIV/AIDS related problems, not hunger or exposure.
The two are inextricably linked. In order to deal with the heroin issue for example their needs to be a two pronged strategy. We need to focus on both the immediate, helping current addict and the long term, preventing new addicts. You are conflating helping people with their immediate needs, and seeking long term solutions to this problem. Two entirely different topics. I'm addressing one, you the other.

It is not reasonable to suggest that most of these deaths are from drug overdoses or HIV just because the cause of death is confidential. Nor is that a reason why they should be written off. By the way there were two links.
Again I find your lack of compassion stunning. Just the fact that they died without getting the help that they needed is something we all should be ashamed of and we should do everything in our power to try and prevent this suffering.
Maybe you shouldn't criticize downtrodden people you don't know anything about. We each choose our 'ministry'. Mine is helping people where I live. Yours seem to be criticizing me for not helping the homeless in New York (I live 1000 miles from New York).

Jesus never said feed the poor and clothe the homeless unless it's their fault they're destitute.
Maybe you shouldn't criticize downtrodden people you don't know anything about.
“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?” 1 John 3:17
