Finding a new species that is mysterious and initially baffling is not nearly enough to put evolution in danger of being overturned. In fact it's almost a sure bet that it will only further bolster the case for evolution. After finding a new species, thousands of new questions arise and numerous tests will need to be done before there is even a chance to affect the theory in any way. Right now there is so much evidence for it that it is virtually rock solid. It's as verified as you can get in science. There are still gaps and mysteries as there are with virtually everything but it is as real as gravity.
