• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My husband rarely attends church and so it came to me after a while, years ago when we started attending the church we still attend now, that lots of folk thought I was a solo mother to start with. :D
I too have been shocked to know that someone was married. Guess it's easy to do when you don't see a spouse attending. I think that's a big part of human nature.

And, you can minister to others in your situation like the rest of us cannot. God will use you...and obviously you want to be used by Him. You go bro!
I was doing some of that with Ellie, and then something happened and she gave away her blessings, sent me a PM she was leaving because of some post about pantagraph jewelry, and she turned off her PM's before icould get back to her about whereever she was posting at, was sad to see that happen and her to leave us so suddenly

Yes, I was somewhat appalled as we knew some folk there fairly well already, so it didn't occur to me that folk might think that. My husband started attending events held from time to time though, so that sorted that out. :)

That's why I don't want to leave. I'm making good friends here (I think) and I can avoid the controversy and just fellowship. It's better for my soul right now.
just have to stay away from things that confuse and focus on things that ............ encourage and edify instead

when the Lord's Spirit called me back ...Oh it's been several years now, maybe 10 years, I would go every week even if Kim didn't want to go, I would leave her at home. And I would go to bible study a lot without her also. She never did become a member of the church we attended.
We was both hurt in prior church experiences, so it was a big step for me to return to a steady service schedule.
This church has been very loving and caring and expecially after Kim died, they would call, just to check up on me during the week. I have even given sermons sometimes and been the fill in worship leader.
They asked me to be on the board but I declined, and just said that my past as a heathen would not look good as an elder, that someone not knowing what I was pulled out of could not understand my past. They understood completely, was just amazed with their compassion

Is good that it got settled out.
I know a lot of men do not go.
And that is sad because they really should be the ones hearing the Message, the man is to be the Spiritual leader of the family.
Not to take away from the woman's roll, we have a couple ladies in our church that are very "Gifted" with understanding and spreading His Word

I hear you, Carl. But to me, that would be a beautiful and powerful testimony, one which would encourage others.
