  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Tim Tebow is as fine a young Christian man as I've come across in awhile.

The comments deriding his thanking his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for giving him the ability to do well in sports and life is ridiculous.

He is a role model for thousands of young athletes across the nation. At every opportunity he praises and gives all the glory for anything he is able to accomplish to Jesus Christ.

If anyone is interested in this young mans amazing life story there's a link below:

First of all, I never "derided" him.

Second, the OP never said that he said that, only "I'd like to thank Jesus Christ", leaving it up to the reader to imagine what he might be thanking Christ for.

Most times...it's not all that hard to extrapolate certain things from the context/content...

...kinda like most times we can derive a sense of someone's attitude from the tone of voice, body language, facial expression...or the written word...:sorry:

I thought the video JAIA77 provided...should remove any doubt what Tim Tebow was giving thanks for...:)

Have a blessed evening PJ

He's an amazing young man, raised by devout parents and a living testament to the argument against abortion for medical reasons. He was declared to likely be incapable of having any quality of life or even being close to normal by those with limited medical knowledge. I'd say they we half right; he's far from normal. ;)

But what if somebody watching the SEC Championship game had never seen that video?

And what difference would that make?

PJ…I’m just a little more than perplexed at what possible reason(s) you may have for your persistence in casting doubt and concern about this young man’s witness.

And I might add… in a way that appears to be trying to find fault.

What an encouragement this young man is to boldly proclaim Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior with a thankful and humble heart…to take the spot light shining on him and redirect it to Christ…no matter what those viewing may think the reason is…

…when many of us can not even find the courage to proclaim Christ to our family, friends and neighbors…let alone publicly to thousands.

I’ve been trying to gracefully bow out of this convo for the past couple posts but…

…I would really like to understand your position on this…because it is simply beyond me how anyone could have concerns or possibly find fault in this.

Well, he also told the ESPN Heisman panel that would have to pray before casting his vote, especially since he's a candidate again this year. His witness is consistent, Christ focused and he never hesitates in his statements. We should all be so genuine when presented an opportunity, especially before a national audience. I think the young man's whole life has been a strong and blessed witness and I pray it continues with his success in the pros. :)

The difference is that you're claiming that it's the video that explains what he is thanking Jesus for so if somebody has not seen the video, then they have no way to know what he's thanking Jesus for.

And do you often put words in people's mouths this way? I believe you know very well that I never cast doubt on his witness.

Remember, the Lord hates a lying tongue.

...I just had to come back to put words in your mouth.

That's because the name of Jesus is thrown around so trivially in our culture that reverence is a thing of the past.

No...I suggested it answered your questions regarding what he was thanking his Lord and Savior for. My bad for not saying "remove any doubt YOU may have..." I considered that was implied...again...my bad for not being more specific
And do you often put words in people's mouths this way? I believe you know very well that I never cast doubt on his witness.
No...I don't know that at all...that's why I ASKED.

I was merely stating I was confused by your posts, pointing out how your posts read to me and asking questions because I did not want to make assumptions...even though in a prior post you commented...

It would be wrong because to portray God as that trivial is taking His name in vain, which is blasphemy.
Those are some pretty strong words...PJ...and yet...I still considered perhaps I was misunderstanding you....certainly not putting words in your mouth nor did I wish to consider you were perhaps judging this young man's walk.

Remember, the Lord hates a lying tongue.
I shudder to think what you may be suggesting here...:o

...I just had to come back to put words in your mouth.

perhaps you may want to try and exercise a little discernment on such things...or perhaps do a little research, before drawing conclusions what a proclaimation of the Lord might mean to someone...at the very least some consideration before suggesting someone MIGHT be committing blasphemy...or speaking with a lying tongue.......pastor.

I think it's probably best we just move on from here...this convo has taken on a tone I'm not at all comfortable with...

Peace
