I planned to,but discovered that it is not in my area yet. The trailers look so hilarious.Even though I disliked Nightmare Before Christmas,Intensely! However, loved James And the Giant Peach, Edward Scissorhands, and Sleepy Hollow. :)

I like Tim Burtons stuff. I loved Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, and James and the Giant Peach. I liked Nightmare Before Christmas, especially the music. Danny Elfman is a genius, and the stop motion photography that I've seen in Corpse Bride previews looks absolutely flawless, almost like a drawn cartoon. But I would like to see it. My mom isn't a big fan of death oriented movies, but the way I figure it is I have nothing to fear from it. Yeah it's an enemy, but it'll be destroyed in the end. If you get the chance to mock it then go ahead. I'm not gonna see it till it comes to a dollar theatre though.
Slainte!

I love Tim Burton, wish I could have him as a guest at my wedding,fun..fun..
When I see a film is done by him,I expect the odd and weird, fun and freaky.
I never think twice if I'll see it or not because he makes things unique on film!

I was looking at some of the footage from the movie, and the animation looks amazing on this one. It almost looks like CGI, but more realistic. Thats one of the things I love about Tim Burton, he doesn't rely as heavily on CGI as most directors do nowadays cough..Lucas..cough. You can tell when somethings CGI or greenscreen or when its not and Burton knows that. Anyways, whats you alls fav Burton movie? Mine's a toss up between Edwards Scissorhands and Ed Wood. Sleepy Hollow and Nightmare compete for second.

I was very leary of Tim Burton and did not want my daughter seeing any of his movies. But then I saw the Nightmare Before Christmas, and realized I was just judging a book by it's cover. I loved it. Since then, I have seen most of Tim Burton's stuff, and I think it is all great!

We have yet to see the Corpse Bride.

I'll probably watch it next weekend. This weekend we are getting ready for Hurricane Rita. Granted we are about 100 miles from the Texas coastline. Rita will be a catagory 1 hurricane by the time it gets here. Still super high winds.

i agree that tim burton is the best director of all time. the nightmare before christmas, edward sissorhands, charlie and the chocolate factory, beetlejuice, planet of the apes, sleepy hollow, and batman are all on my favorite movies list. and i plan to see the corpse bride at 3 o'clock today and then add it to that list. however, i must disagree with you on one very important detail. NONE of tim burtons movies were animated. (as far as i know) the reason they look so realistic is because they are claymations. (for those of you who dont know what a claymation is, they make everything out of clay and take a still frame, move the characters and such about a 1/10th of a millameter, take another still frame, and do that for the entire movie.) very little CGI is used. it looks so 3 dimensional because it is.

sorry about that, but it really bugs me when people call tim burtons movies animated. :sorry:

Well, I think I would have to contest that statement. Stop-motion animation is considered animation, which very well means Corpse Bride could be up for an Oscar compared to movies like Madagascar and Valiant. I doubt Chicken Little and Wallace & Grommit will best it either. So, this could be the first year a Tim Burton wins a award for best film of any sort.

You've got it, except that the characters in Corpse Bride aren't clay. None of the pros really use clay anymore, at least not for most things, not even the ones that REALLY look like it (Chicken Run, Wallace and Gromit - maybe the early ones are, not sure). Clay doesn't hold itself together as well and has other problems. Some of them use materials like clay, but Corpse Bride isn't really. It's much stiffer than clay. Also of note is the way they animate the faces in Corpse Bride. They use a sort of hex key to manually open and close the mouths and do some other minor alterations of the face. This is an improvement over the old technique of swapping heads, as they did in Nightmare Before Christmas

I saw the film, and quite enjoyed it. In terms of storytelling and characters, it beats out A Nightmare Before Christmas, but the latter still has a grander scope. The character design and animation is brilliant. Songs are pretty decent also. I'd give it an 8/10.

Tim Burton is a genius of his craft. So is Danny Elfman. I adored "Edward Scissorhands" and thoroughly enjoyed "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" but "The Nightmare Before Christmas" was overrated in my opinion. The one wasn't worth all the hype, even if it is because it's a cult movie favorite. I will say that the style of "Nightmare" and "Corpse Bride" are absolutely beautiful, and I have mad respect for Tim Burton for it.

A friend and I are going to see this as soon as our schedules work out. I saw a preview for this movie a month or two ago and have wanted to see it ever since. Time Burton has this stereotypical style to his work, but it draws you in every time. Truly wonderous.
