  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where will you be spending eternity?
What does the Bible say we have to look forward to.

Even though it is so little taught in the mainstream churches the Bible tells us that Christ is returning to set up a literal kingdom on earth.
This is the Millennium-the promised Kingdom of God-Rev 20:4
And His resurrected, now immortal saints at that time will co-rule with Him. Rev 5:10
The early Church believed and taught this message

When did men stop believing this prophecy of Christ, a major theme throughout the Bible, instead substituted that glorious hope with the idea and theologies of heaven, hell, and immortality?

Do you believe that Jesus will return at the end of the age to set up His Kingdom as promised?

Once Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, and he answered, “The kingdom of God is not coming with things that can be observed; nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ For, in fact, the kingdom of God is among you.”

This is in Luke 17:20-21.
In light of all the scripture talking about a literal kingdom set up on earth. I believe Jesus was referring to Himself as being within in or better translated among you.
I don't think Jesus could be telling them the Kingdom is within their hearts because they wanted to destroy Him.- Matt 12:14

Matthew 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

You can not take from them what they do not have, and if we are still waiting for it to come, he did not give it to anyone, and neither are we translated into it.

Luk 17:20-21 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

The words within you are literally the words within you. But if you make it say it is not in you, then the Spirit of truth is not in you, neither Christ, neither God, and neither were you translated into his kingdom.

John 14:20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. (which makes us in the Father now, unless you have not come to that day).

The Greek word " entos " translated "within" is better translated " in the midst of " - Vines complete expository dictionary of Old and New Testament words.
Jesus was pointing out the paradox that the Pharisees didn't have the spiritual discernment to recognize that the message of the Kingdom of God was standing beside them.
The Pharisees couldn't even recognize the very personification of that Kingdom in Him.

The truth of Jesus is the truth of every son, but beside us is not in us and therefore we are not the habitation of God as a place that is his rest forever as something he alone desired, and he alone can accomplish. He makes his abode with us by being in us ... for it is God who is in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

How could the Pharisees see the kingdom in the first place if they were not born again? but they knew of the timing of the coming of the Messiah which is evident when Herod went about to ensure his reign would go uninterrupted.

The disciples were themselves thinking that the kingdom was a literal rule, Peter brandishing a sword over them taking Jesus, (as the saying was obviously abroad that Jesus was the King of the Jews by Pilate's statement, which put him at odds with Cesar, and was the reasoning for his crucifixion, which was the words Caiaphas spoke of the Holy Ghost, though not according to their understanding of what these words meant) as was their questioning when God would restore the kingdom, and make them head over all the other nations, but they did not perceive of the truth of the kingdom as being in them (and not of this world), it not being an in that day to them yet.

We have to remember to whom Jesus said " the Kingdom is within you"
He said it to hate filled, murder plotting pharisees.
Was Jesus saying the Kingdom of God was " within " the hearts of the same individuals He called hypocrites, vipers, fools, blind guides and deceivers.
The same word " within " entos is used in John 1:26-
" ....there standeth one AMONG you...." referring to Jesus.

In Luke 17:20 the Pharisees demanded to know WHEN the Kingdom of God should come not where or what it is.

the Kingdom of God is something we inherit(future) and flesh and blood cannot inherit it as mortal beings.
Matt 5:5 -the meek shall inherit the earth.

Isaiah among many of the prophets speak of a divine Government having global authority over the earth. Isaiah 2: 2-4

Many of Jesus's parables speak about the Kingdom of God and its Government
Luke 19 for one.

God's Kingdom is shown as a real entity here on earth -
Rev 11:15
Rev 5:9-10
Rev 20:4, 6

The Gospel of the Kingdom of God in no sense of the word is a present or spiritual reality-it is by scripture a future and supernatural outcome.

That would mean God is not a present or spiritual reality.

Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Where are you?

How can the kingdom of God suffer violence if it is not a present truth? or how could one take it by force if it is not a present truth?

The truth is, it is our Father's good pleasure to give us the kingdom.

Col 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Where are you?

God is eternal-with no beginning or end. He always is and will be.

I'm with God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ on this.
It seems like physical saints(Christians)are already in the Kingdom of God
from Col:1-13.
But this isn't the case. Again 1Cor15:50 says physical bodies-flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.
So what is verse 13 saying?
The Greek word here " basileia " denotes sovereignty and Royal power. The verse shows that God's power begins in the life of the Christian at conversion.
In this verse the word does not mean territory or land but rather to the authority, rule or sovereign power of a King.
The verse means that the Christian is no longer under the dominion of
evil (darkness) but under or translated (transferred) to the benevolent rule of God's Son.
We are subject to God's authority now in the present but not yet residents
of His kingdom to come.
Going back to verse 12 we see that we qualify for the inheritance of the saints but that doesn't happen until the second coming of Christ-Rom 8:17

According to scripture we are sort of Ambassadors for Christ not yet in His Kingdom which is to come but living under His authority and rule now while we wait for His return to rule the whole under His Dominion.
