  • Hundreds of protesters attended 'Reopen North Carolina' rally outside North Carolina Legislative Building
  • The demonstrators demanded that Gov Roy Cooper join other states and ease their lockdown orders
  • Rally went on despite the group's leader, Audrey Whitlock, testing positive for the novel coronavirus
  • Two women in their fifties and another aged 33 were arrested by officers at the anti-lockdown rally
  • Tweets from ReOpen NC suggested that the healthcare workers were actually political activists
  • The group promises to hold rallies in Raleigh every Tuesday until the governor's restrictions are lifted

'Three persons who refused to comply were charged with resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer and violating an executive order.'

Smith's husband told local media WRAL News that his wife deliberately ignored police orders.

'She turned to me and said, 'Hey we're going to show what civil disobedience is all about,' Adam Smith said.

'I think it's the best thing that's ever happened to this movement. This could be that step like that shot heard round the world. This is going to be the step that's heard around North Carolina. I hope that it inspires people to step up and take that step into the unknown and be willing to stand up for your rights.'

The pictures really tell a story. Not sure which is my favorite protest sign:

Well I really agree with the haircut sign. I was a little overdue when the distancing stuff started. Now I'm getting shaggy. Real shaggy. Like I should get a van and a dog and start solving mysteries.
