• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That may be so but as a protestant I interpret the Holy Bible for myself. I need not intersessor between me and the Bible's teachings.

There's unhistoric Protestantism...How much Luther and Calvin have you read?

None. They didn't preach to us anything important, they opened the doors and let us out of the churches so we could meet God on our own!(I know some people haven't yet realized that)

Protestants can use no intersessor or instructor.

"After those days, sayith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts;...."

"And they shall teach no more every man his neigbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord." Jer.31;33,34

ps. those men were just as church custodians, they had the keys to let us out thank goodness!

The theology for Jesus "72-hours in the grave" is neither Protestant nor Catholic. It comes from the old Plain Truth magazine.

Reread what I said and what it was in answer to.

So forget what Protestantism actually teaches, usurp the title, and not care?

...no...get a dictionary and look up the word "intercessor".

And you are dead wrong about no instructors too.

Protestantism accepts sola scriptura and rejects solo scriptura. You are not a Protestant; you are your own Pope. Don't defame Protestants by claiming to be something you are not.

Protestantism, or the Christian Reformation as it is often called, is the fulfillment of the prophesy of Jer.31;31 and Heb.8;10

"After those days, sayith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts;...."

"And they shall teach no more every man his neigbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord." Jer.31;33,34

"....I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts;..." Heb.8;10 Paul says it pretty clearly here.

That there are no Protestant beliefs. Thats what the Christian Reformations was, the fulfulling of Jer.31;31 and Heb.8;10

Whats with this belief stuff?

You are claiming to be something you are not.

While I disagree with Protestantism, I'm not going to stand back and let people claim to be Protestantism and give it a bad name by not being one. You clearly are not a Protestant.

My great great great grandparents were put in oil and boiled, hung on a nail by their nose on the wall, and had their spines ripped out by the Orthodox church when they became Protestants. I am a Protestant after their lineage.

That isn't proof you are a Protestant.

Protestantism teaches sola scriptura, not the solo scriptura you believe. Luther and Calvin were all about looking to what was already said and interpreted (Luther admittedly more than Calvin), and both taught the importance of the Holy Bible being the church's book, not an individual's. Indeed, corporate interpretation was still vital to them.

In theory he could.

In practice he demonstrates a patent ignorance about Scripture.

But what about Jer.31;31 and Heb.8;10. They tell us that a time will come when no man will teach another man. This is a time predicted in the Old Testement by Jeremiah and in the New Testement by Paul. I think that it is approprate for today. Do some people think that these two forecasts are for some later date?

Look what happens when we try to teach each other on this Christian forum!

Your interpretation is clearly misapplied, especially when Protestantism does NOT TEACH WHAT YOU CLAIM IT TO!

You are labeling yourself something you don't follow. I've said that several times.

Go into any of the Protestant or Lutheran boards here and ask them if your ideas are acceptable. Principally, go into the Lutheran/Moravian, Presbyterian, and Methodist/Wesleyan boards, as they (with the probable exception of the Lutherans) are your classic, historic Protestants.
