You simply have to be kidding.Irrefutable scriptural evidence has been posted more than once documenting that the first day of the week, i.e. Monday, was the third day from Jesus' resurrection.
He meant SundayYou simply have to be kidding.
With the priests and Pilot supposedly posting a guard starting on Saturday for three days - I can understand how he could get a little mixed up.He meant Sunday
That is not what the Scriptures say. With the priests and Pilot supposedly posting a guard starting on Saturday for three day
He meant Sunday
I agree of course. It was Thursday not Saturday. That is not what the Scriptures say.
Also not what the Scriptures say.I agree of course. It was Thursday not Saturday.
What I think he meant to say was that Sunday was the 3rd day since His crucifixion...
Typo I meant Sunday. Irrefutable scriptural evidence has been posted several times that Sunday was the third day from the crucifixion. You simply have to be kidding.
Much better now. But you are mistaken when you say that it is irrefutable scriptural evidence. I have refuted it as have many others before me and as many after me will.Typo I meant Sunday. Irrefutable scriptural evidence has been posted several times that Sunday was the third day from the crucifixion.
No you have NOT refuted anything. You have only stated your opinion .Much better now. But you are mistaken when you say that it is irrefutable scriptural evidence. I have refuted it as have many others before me.
Yes... I meant crucifixion on Wednesday... burial late Wednesday afternoon before sunset.
Resurrection Saturday afternoon either seventy two hours from when the spirit of Messiah Yeshua - Jesus left his body..... .or from his burial..... I am not entirely sure which but assume from when his spirit left his body.
So I believe in a late Sabbath afternoon resurrection and Messiah Yeshua - Jesus was already risen by Sunday morning when the women came with the spices that they had prepared on Friday..... that they could not prepare on Thursday due to it being an annual Sabbath the First Day of Unleavened Bread.
Exactly!!! but in the interest of compressing things conveniently into one weekend, instead of spreading it out with the consequent disruption of the work week, the Visible church invented the "any portion of a day is a whole day" foolishness - to force it to fit into a more "practical" time slot.
The Eastern Orthodox Church has services every day of the week in the week leading up to Easter. His claim is nonsense. I often take some of my leave that week so I can attend as many of the services as possible. It is a big chunk off my annual leave and is anything but convenient.Yes.... that would definitely play a significant role in the final decisions of the churches.
As I told Bob the church did not invent the "part of a day is as a whole day." When I first heard this several years ago I looked it up and where better to look it up than in the Jewish Encyclopedia.Yes.... that would definitely play a significant role in the final decisions of the churches.
where better to look it up than in the Jewish Encyclopedia.
Wrong! This merely ignores my post. All 4 gospels agree that Jesus was crucified on the day of Preparation which is "paraskeue" in Greek. "Paraskeue" was then and is today the Greek word for the day we call Friday.Better version: Jesus was killed on Wednesday afternoon, and interred before sundown which would be the beginning of Thursday night. He then remained in the "earth" until Sundown on Saturday and was ressurected after sundown which would be Sunday night, and met the ladies Early Sunday morning.
Jesus cannot be interred before sundown on Wednesday afternoon and rise on Sunday night. Because that means Jesus rose on the fourth day.Better version: Jesus was killed on Wednesday afternoon, and interred before sundown which would be the beginning of Thursday night. He then remained in the "earth" until Sundown on Saturday and was ressurected after sundown which would be Sunday night, and met the ladies Early Sunday morning.
The first day of Unleavened is not a Sabbath day if you read the text carefully.Better version: Jesus was killed on Wednesday afternoon, and interred before sundown which would be the beginning of Thursday night. He then remained in the "earth" until Sundown on Saturday and was ressurected after sundown which would be Sunday night, and met the ladies Early Sunday morning.
Wrong! This merely ignores my post.
