Thoughts on TBN

So Im flipping through the channels and I stop on some preaching. Looks like an infomerical but it's a running program. Bottom scroller shows all the verses that justify tithing and to send them money. Many numbers display at the top of the screen, one for each continent, so a pledge can be made. Then I hear that for only $35 I can get Psalm 45 perfume, and I am troubled. A preacher passionately gives his sermon, some gospel solos are played, and I feel nothing but disgust. Is this what Christianity has come to for the mainstream? A way to suck dollars, yen, and euros from the dumb masses so that the execs can make $300k a year? Then I check wikipedia and see all the "preachers" and "Godly men" who have preached under the TBN banner

Yes TBN is imo an immoral leech on the Church, mixing in the yeast of the pharisees so that true nourishing meat cannot be discerned.

There are a few programs that I enjoy on TBN, but I take everything I view with a grain a salt. They claim that millions of people have been saved through TBN and that may be true. It is just very unfortunate that many of the preachers feel that the Christian life is a door to wealth and influence. We have to be careful that we aren't overly critical of them because they will give an account to God on how they spend their money. The best thing is to just sort out the Godly things and throw away the junk.

I can't stand the channel But they do show good movies.
The first time I ever saw the movie Peter and Paul was on TBN.

theres good and bad on the channel, but that goes for most of our local churches too. God will sort it out.

I have seen the Television Evangelist On TBN and other stations, I recall the Jim Bakers ,Jimmy Swaggart and others and the Things that amounted to stealing in the name of the Lord. No doubt that many will stand before God and give an account. What hurt me more is the people that gave to these organizations people on welfare,Social security and believed the stories these people told my own parents were taken in by these people, oh what a web we weave when we choose o deceive. It is possible that their our people who need the assistance to bring the gospel but many in the name of the lord has deceived many. I leave it in Gods hands he wiull judge them.

In response to the OP, I sometimes will flip through the channels and stop at TBN to briefly witness what form of life is squirming on my television screen like a specimen under a microscope.

In February 2012, Brittany Koper, TBN's former Director of Finance (and the granddaughter of Paul Sr. and Jan Crouch), filed a lawsuit against her former attorneys, Davert & Loe. The three counts of the complaint were for breach of fiduciary duties, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and professional negligence. In this lawsuit, Koper alleges that TBN unlawfully distributed over $50 million to TBN's directors. Koper filed the suit following the termination of her employment with TBN. Davert & Loe, who also represented TBN, denied her claims. Koper’s suit against Davert & Loe is pending. No official judicial ruling has been made in this matter.[59][60]

In June 2012, The Orange County Register reported that Carra Crouch, the granddaughter of Paul and Jan Crouch, filed a lawsuit claiming that TBN covered up her rape by a network employee when she was 13-years-old.[65] Carra Crouch claimed to have been given a date rape drug and sexually abused while staying at an Atlanta, Georgia, hotel during TBN's "Praise-a-thon" in the spring of 2006. She also claimed that when she informed Jan Crouch and TBN attorney John Casoria of the rape, they professed disbelief in her claims and blamed her for the incident. However, according to the lawsuit, Crouch and Casoria fired the employee, agreeing to not turn him in to the authorities if he did not file for unemployment, worker's compensation, or EEOC benefits. As ordained ministers, Crouch, Casoria, and other Crouch family members are legally obligated to report a sexual assault. why you watching that stuff? if you listen to any of the head figures on there do you really think they are God's elite? Do you hear Jesus in the voice or their hearts? Because all i hear is buy this or donate here, give give all you have to us. God says to give to us. No It says to render to caesar what is caesar and to God what is God's.

Nope...I hear "money, money, money, gimme money" I watch it for the same reason I listen to Joel Olsteen preach...to find holes in their logic and reasoning and then communicate it to others
