  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh, I'll provide the answer.

It's because the empirical, verifiable evidence shows that the Neanderthals did get wiped out. Whether by by Sapiens or Wolves or Bears or Sheep or whatever. The fact is that the Neanderthals did get wiped out. That's the evidence of what happened to Neanderthals. They all died.

I'm not too sure why some people have problems with that fact?

Derek you are correct. They did get wiped out but I think the question was about HOW....

We know now they did NOT get "wiped out by the Sapiens"

a) because they also were Sapiens (not troglodytes or hairy hunched over cave dwelling sub-humans)
b) and because we so called Sapien-sapiens (a man mdae categorization) were attracted, mated, and produced fertile offspring with them

We probably out numbered them and more or less absorbed their lineage. We probably had more going with alternative survival strategies, like adding planting and herding to the hunting (but that is speculation)

We have their bones and their DNA. We can work out what they looked like.

They were vastly more different to us then any two humans alive today.

The classification of Sapiens and Neanderthal are man made, but do are all classifications. But these classifications are based on evidence and any hand waving won't make that go away.

They weren't hunched over, but then again none of our upright ancestors were (even the ape like Lucy). However, they had differently hinged shoulders so they would have been better thrusters then throwers.
