The point is in the vast majority of cases the mother has knowingly participated in an activity that can and often does result in the creation of a human life. Once that life exists you should not have the right to chose whether it continues to exist. Neither should I or anyone else. And before I am asked yes I am a consistent pro-lifer. While I do believe that some situations do justify homicide such as self-defense, I do not support Capital Punishment or unjust warfare.

As for the self-defense argument in favor of abortion, most pregnancies do not end in loss of life of the mother. Thus it is not a true case of self-defense. The mother is rarely in imminent danger.

However you are right this is better left for another thread and I apologize for derailing it thus far.
Try looking up what changes take place in a womans body during pregnancy and how those changes are reflective of mood through hormonal changes in the fetus. Children that go full term in a womb that does not desire to keep them are forever scarred both physically and emotionally does the child really deserve that?

ALL are living things. And it would prove self preservation exists in the unborn human being.

Now we're getting closer to a civilized conversation about human beings. One step at a time.
But neither Amoebas, houseflies or fetuses have a brain.

I'd say Obama cares more about his kids than his grand kids.
And half brothers aren't of much interest to him either.

Better not survive an abortion in Obama's world.

What are they sucking out of the skulls of "fetuses" in third trimester (and earlier) abortions??????

DNA. Follow the path. Start with your first moments of existence. No matter how you spin it, "you" go all the back to a fertilized ovum.

So? I quite literally couldn't have cared less if I'd been aborted.

Or, indeed, if I'd failed to be conceived.

The vast majority of abortions are prior to brain development. I understand DNA far better than most people ever will and I do not see your point. If I scrape my tongue I have enough DNA to clone myself so if I wash that DNA down the drain I have just committed murder?

Nice spin. That DNA from the cells coming off of YOUR tongue, are, and only can be YOU. You can't clone you from the neighbor down the street. What you just showed is that DNA proves who and what you are. That being, YOU. The only difference between the DNA in your tongue tissues and a fertilized ovum is a name and a status.

Now, if you do understand DNA, you also know that at the moment of conception, the DNA in your tongue tissue was all there at the fertilized ovum stage of "developement."

I think you see my point perfectly.

So it seems your contention is that the child deserves death.

Two thoughts come to mind regarding the implied reference to Palin’s daughter.

The first is the fact she did not receive anything but abstinence only education. And now she and the mother who pushed the abstinence only agenda see the results. It has been shown multiple times that abstinence only education backfires, teens taught abstinence only sex ed have sex at younger ages, are unlikely to use birth control, are more likely to contract an STD and significantly more likely to become pregnant.

Facts? Evidence? Resource for your assertion? Abstinence is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy, STD's and being labeled many bad words that men do not get called.

The second (and it is a related thought) did the Palin girl…whatever her name is…have any choice in the matter?

Choice for what killing her unborn child because she did something wrong? How has ending someone else's life become a choice anyway?

Not in the getting pregnant part but in the what to do now that I am pregnant part.

You should get to a biology book and see what happens when a woman (note "women") gets pregnant. Birth of an individual human being is the result.

Is she being forced (pushed, coerced) into marriage and motherhood to further her mothers agenda and political career?

Maybe she is doing what a Christian should do? Repent and sin no more. Ever heard of that?

Part of me says ‘defiantly’

The part of you that was lucky enough to be born? That part?

It's not a contention, it is their mantra. Abortion is not a joke. Someone dies and someone goes on living. It's the greatest act of hypocisy in the history of mankind. Someone lucky enough not to be aborted doesn't give the same chance to someone else.

I see that Obama is the only candidate sane enough to do more good than harm to the America Bush leaves behind.

You guys think they go straight to heaven and we think that a clump of cells is only a potential human.
So what's the problem?
