It is interesting to compare and contrast things, for example a rock vs a feather. But that doesn't mean that one of the object's original purpose was to exist for this comparison. So the book of Job, which was composed long before the time of Jacob, might have interesting points that can be used to compare to Israel, I do not believe it was written with that intent.

Best wishes,
KT

But you do agree that, during the Tribulation, Israel will undergo persecution, both the righteous and the unrighteous?

This is a side discussion from the intent of the OP, but OK.

My take on OT prophecies regarding Israel are that they were the plans that God made available to the nation/country. He originally wanted them to extend their territory all the way up to the Euphrates river. So there are many many statements in the OT about what was going to happen in the future. But God was also VERY clear that His promises and threats were conditional upon the people following His rules and instruction. So, yes, there are many statements in the OT that seem to put Israel in the middle of the action all the way up to the very end.

But then in the NT, it seems that the plans changed. All the OT was leading up to the coming of the Messiah. But at Jesus's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, He was rejected by the leadership of the Jews. All God's wonderful wishes, goals and prophecies were crushed by a disbelieving leadership. Jesus told them that their Temple was left desolate.
Matt 23: 37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. 38 Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’[c]”

So my understanding is that God has transitioned from a traditional country-based kingdom into a believer-group kingdom. As such, the plans originally stated for the country of Israel no longer stand.

But I am not God, and He will do whatever He knows to be best. So I will await and see.

Best wishes,

Kevin

If you believe God original plans for Israel no longer stands, I can understand why you don't view Job in the same way.

Thanks
