  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This'll be interesting

So, my sister in law had this cat that was getting really really old. She had to put it down on Monday. She wanted to bury the cat, and because she lives in an apartment (and lacks a place where she can do it), she called my wife on Sunday night to ask if we could bury it in our back yard.

My wife said ok - of course.

She puts the cat down on Monday as scheduled, and brings it over to the house. Unfortunately though it's been storming for the past few days over here, so burying the cat on Monday wasn't going to work. But now they've got this dead cat to deal with and store until the weather lets up and the ground dries.

What's the idea? Well, we have this deep freezer in the garage where we store meat/etc. Might as well put it in there...lol

My wife asked me to pick up something to act as a casket (prior to the freezing of the cat) - and I bought this little pine box about the right size of a cat. Out of curiosity though I took a look at what kind of box the vet put the cat into...and it's a totally different shape.

So, now I've got this frozen cat that I'm supposed to be burying in the next couple of days that likely isn't going to fit into the box I bought. I'm also not all that hot on the idea of "thawing it out" - lol

Hmmmm.

Even though it's a frozen cat.

It's what is called nowadays a hot mess.

Hate to say this but, you could saw off a couple of Frozen cat parts so as to fit in the Box. This is done pretty easily with a saw. Best not to tell your sister, she need not know.

I've seen that done many times on Forensic Files.

We have six cats right now and I've often wondered why when they see me with my hacksaw in my hand they all run?

They also seem to stay clear of the freezer.

Don't forget to clean the saw blade.

You could thaw it out (it hasn't decayed in the freezer) and then re-configure it to fit the pine box...

Or just bury it in the vet's box (as mentioned before).

Make the cat fit in the box. It won't know the difference. ;)

Sure would not want to do that if the cat was alive.
I've been torn up by cats.
Frozen ones are okay.

I would just put down rain gear and get the job done. If you're burying it under a lawn, make sure to carefully cut out and remove the organic mat first, set aside in one piece, then lay out a tarp to dump the dirt onto. After you bury the cat, you can just dump the dirt over it from off the tarp, neatly replace the organic mat on top, and discard the extra dirt. Then you won't have dirt in your grass and it won't look like a muddy mess afterward.

Do you also have to make a cross or headstone with the cats name on it?

Nice touch but, be careful with the marking of the grave because some Cities have an ordinance against burying animals in our yard.

Goats up here on the mountain top no problem.

Wow.....I had no idea that there're some states that have no laws restricting home burials.

I agree with AKMom. I'd either want to just get this done now....or, if it were me, I'd be calling to see if it's too late for a cremation to be done. I just couldn't imagine having a dead cat in my freezer. I have a difficult time enough with cuts of meat that resemble the animal they came from.

Just cut it to fit the box. Probably solved. Man I’m good!!

I know this issue is very important I got a solution.

Send that Frozen cat to us up top the mountain here and by the time it gets here in the mail it'll be defrosted and we will bury it for you for a couple bucks and have a little service and then send you the video of the service can't beat that.
