Do you think this, "division," may have something to do the way God dealt with sin? "Heavens", in Genesis 2:1, requires a division of origin, which may be the reason for the multiple occurrences of days, in Genesis 1.

How has science come to the conclusion that sin is no longer in our environment? Science did it through a good report, the truths of the Universe. Sin, from the foundation of the world, was the breaking of the laws of the heavens, as made by the Word of the LORD. I believe the ten commandments can only be an interpolation of the way things really were then, in those "heavens".
Nevertheless, we of the fourth day of the creation, live in the Universe actually made by the generations of the heavens and the earth. God let it happen and the generations made it so. This is how we can have, Science; because the generations may be measured in this dispensation, the dispensation of the grace of God.
This is an avenue I have been pondering.
