This Present Darkness

They are both very, very enjoyable books (and this comes from a guy who has been reading novels since the 4th grade). I loved them both. And thanks for the other suggestions.

I am just finishing Piercing The Darkness. It is BETTER than the first one, The Present Darkness, but both are REALLY GOOD reads. I would like to find more books like this.

The Veritas Conflict By Shaunti Feldhahn is another great book about spiritual warfare!! A great and fast paced book!!

The Visitation, to me, is Peretti's greatest work. It is everything I want a Christian novel to be. It's also long and tedious, but there is so much story there. The themes are almost universal. I'd even recommend it over This Present Darkness.

Of the Peretti books I have read so far, The Visitation has also been my favorite. It has a very real feel to it and the characters are easy to relate to as far as their shortcomings or how they got to their place in life. The Oath was also a good book, but not as good as The Visitation. Some of the story just didn't work for me. This Present Darkness was good, but I wished it got a bit more into the hows and whys of the spiritual warfare (I can't really go into details without spoilers).

I am working on Piercing the Darkness right now, but I can't get into it. I don't know if it is the book or some distractions in my personal life right now.

Peretti is as good as any secular writer I have read, however. I never thought I would enjoy religious fiction so much.
