has someone posted a list to view when going for a proper diagnosis for meds.like what to expect in the questions or how far you have to go in the past etc. I would appreciate a head start if someone doesn't mind sharing, personal message is fine. what is the most important thing to tell them which usally varifies it for sure.I have searched the web but usally its just the symptoms (got it and dr. was sure)or what it is etc... but i've never found a preparation list. I really enjoy being around everyone here we really understand each other and that feels great! Peace,DEB~ < I call him binky, because it looks like he's never been weaned. Bipolars don't go to a doctor and say some MAJIC WORDS to get diagnosed.




They go see a doctor or mental health care unit because something is bad wrong.



Do you want to say something to the doctor that ISN'T you. WHY?



Leave the doctor business to the doctor.



I don't think or at least I hope that you WILL NOT find what it is your looking for on the web. This is not a game to be played.

I'm a step ahead of that one WW, I only said the web because I thought that would be the answer I got back...you know.....search for yourself. so I thought I would let people know that yes, I know that option. I just wanted to ask a simple request but its not necessary, i will find out soon enough. yes, I have bipolar diagnosed by a doctor but I am going to go to my phy. doctor in columbus who has treated me for adhd. we moved to indiana for a year and were moving back in two weeks.I don't like the way the mental heath has treated me here or my m.d for that matter.

do you think my post sounds like I think its a game WW? because I try to be kind and sensitive the way i wish people would treat me in my experiences. I don't mean to sound disrespectful, i've been up 3 days and i had two bad experiences today but i don't want to think about it. God Bless, DEB~

God bless you! maybe you should make a list of questions to ask. i always list the stuff because i forget at doctor's office.

The doctor's questions should just about cover it, but you may want to make a list of major childhood/upbringing issues and symptoms in case some don't come up during questioning. For example, I had a few concussions as a kid (that could explain a lot!).

I write everything that I want to say down beforehand so I don't forget anything. Also, when I'm really depressed I have a hard time talking. One time I could hardly talk and just handed him what I printed out.

Just be as honest as you can be about what is happening in your life.
When it comes to meds always ask questions about side effects and write it down if you need help remembering.

A dual diagnosis of adhd and bipolar is not uncommon, and many docs are very skilled at treating this combination
