Cursing does not frighten children. I grew up with plenty of relatives who cursed like sailors and never thought anything of it. Curse words also do not "damage society" any more than any other words do lol.

Anger and threat reduce the likelihood of cooperation.
Societies require cooperation at all levels.

People who use curse words are not rewarded for this behavior by society.
They often don't even realize that their own behavior is derailing them.
