  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That is a stereotype that Rock Hudson did not fit-----now did he?

I thought I'd made it pretty clear that I was being facetious in that post.

Would you care to answer the question I asked in post #351?

You are totally missing what I'm saying. Non- christians have no right to tell christians how a christin should live, unless they agree to live by the same rules.
And by using the exact same yard stick homosexuals should be allowed to marry, correct?

Which i've never seen any non-christian do, i've only seen non-christians point out that christians are inconsistent and cherry-pick what they accept, when anyone who can read and has read the bible knows that jesus was about helping people and loving everyone he met.

the problem with the idea about following the same rules is, YOU don't even follow them, YOU claim you do, but your actions point to not doing so

if our tax dollars werent ninety percent spent on guns perhaps healthcae would be affordable for all....
Look at the european health care systems. All western european countries spend less on health care per capita than America, but have a better, more universal coverage.

Indeed. The German system is continually deteriorating, and why? Because our oh-so-wise politicians think that it's a brilliant idea to emulate the US, dismantle the social welfare state and privatize everything. The results are devastating.

Gay sex is what I have been taught. I have never experienced sex with a woman. Sex has always been forced on me sometimes injuring me severly. I now am attracted to men. Is this my fault?
You need to talk to the police and a therapist in that order. What your sexual orientation is should be the least of your concerns right now.

What IzzyPop said.

Severe trauma, especially the type of sexual trauma that you describe, often causes people to become extremely confused about their sexual orientation. Please seek some help; you shouldn't have to go through this alone.

And I'm so sorry to hear that this happened to you, by the way.:(

My abuser was killed earlier this year in a car accident. This left me feeling empty, lonely, and confused. My abuser was a member of my family, community, and church. I have since sought out a new abuser that went too far, and injured me. I don't think I am bad for my lifestyle. If it should have been different God would have pointed me in that direction.

I don't think you're bad for your lifestyle, either, but take a step back and look at what you're subjecting yourself to. It's extremely common for people who have been as badly traumatized as you have to seek out situations in which they recreate the circumstances under which they were first abused, especially if it was someone who you saw as a trustworthy authority figure (and it sounds like this person was for you). This is where dissociation comes heavily into play - when a parent or a trusted authority figure starts abusing a child, the child can't process what's happening to him- or herself, and that the abuser is doing something so incredibly evil to them. So they assume that they've done something to deserve this, and oftentimes they grow up with grandiose notions of being completely at fault for every bad thing that happens to them - even if there's no logical way they could be responsible for an incident or event.

So again, I really think you need to seek some serious therapy over this. What happened to you was absolutely awful; it hasn't made you a bad person, and nobody (least of all you yourself) should make you think that it was your fault that it happened. But I can promise you, you will be happier if you seek professional, guided help through this.

And, obviously, don't forget to pray, at the very least that God will show you guidance and peace.

noope. I already explained this to you. You can't just become gay when ever you fancy. No way to turn yourself gay if you're not gay.
But one can rape, have incest, commit adultery, fornicate, and play around with ones buddy at camp and still be a good heterosexual? Did you watch the movie Brokeback Mountain. Homosexuals loved it, but in fact, it demonstrated exactly what happens when one guy comes on to another young guy who has raging hormones. Sorry, one's sexuality can be scarred---limp wrists excluded.

Rape? No.
Commit incest? Ewww, but nothing intrinsically wrong if both parties are consenting adults.
Fornicate? As long as everyone involved is a consenting adult.
"Play around with one's buddy at camp"? If you mean same-sex buddy, then you're not 100% heterosexual, but there's nothing immoral about it if all parties concerned are consenting adults.

I thought that movie showed how the social stigma attached to homosexuality and propagated by narrow minded bigots caused two men to live their lives as lies rather than be with the people they fell in love with.

First off, no one is saying that a person's sexuality cannot be scarred. Second, if you rape or commit incest, I doubt anyone will call you good. There is a world of difference between consenting homosexual sex and forcing someone to have sex. Please stop conflating the two situations. It demonstrates a lack of either intelligence, empathy, or integrity.

Of couse JESUS loved everyone. He also said, "GO AND SIN NO MORE." "YE ARE OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL." "YE VIPERS AND HYPOCRITES..." Many Christians do cherry pick. That does not make it right, nor homosexual behavior any more correct.

How does one get concent? "Hey, buddy, do you want to go to bed?" Or is it subtle and seductive.... "You know, I can see you are a sensitive young man, perhaps you are just different ---- let me give you a hug."

The same way one gets consent in a hetero relationship. With a signed contract.;)
