I don't understand. Nothing in the Bible from God or Jesus condemns gay marriage, and this is backed up in real life.

JESUS is CHRIST and IS GOD. GOD gave Moses the LAW. Now if you would like me to post verses from Levitticus I will. JESUS also said that HE came not the destroy the LAW, but to fulfill it. If you want to put your head in the sand, be my guest. But come Judgment Day any attempt at playing innocent due to being uninformed will not work. Nothing in the Bible supports Homosexual marriage.

Sure. Let's also include the verses that command you to kill disobedient children, forbid you to eat shellfish or wear cotton/polyester blends and regulate just how severely you may injure one of your slaves before it counts as a crime.

You make quoting Leviticus sound like some kind of threat. Now I can understand why -- A friend of mine went to premarital counseling with his fiancee, and the Southern Baptist pastor spent the whole afternoon discussing Leviticus with them. Especially, y'know, all those parts about womanly uncleanness.

Now I suppose you want to whip out Leviticus 18:22, because to you it screams out "homosexuality is a sin," but it ain't that simple. The literal English translation is along the lines of "With the male/man to lie the lyings of the female/woman/wife is taboo." Now you may quickly be able to fill in the gaps with stuff about homosexuality, but it's not as obvious to the rest of us.

It's not even easy for Rabbinic scholars, who have tried to fully understand this passage for millennia. One rabbi, at about the same time as St. Francis, came to the conclusion that it meant that in a relationship, there should be one person who assumes the "husband" role and one who assumes the "wife" role; a couple where both people took on the mantle of "husband" or of "wife" would lead to strife. (LN, remember that he was talking about roles here, not actual genders). For more detailed information, I invite you to read Stealing Jesus by Bruce Bawer -- I believe he has the reference for an English translation of the original Rabbinic text. (The problem with checking out all my books from the library is I never have them on hand when I need to refer to them. I should start making photocopies.)

But if you want to go ahead and show us Leviticus 18:22 for the umpteenth time, go ahead. There's still nothing in real life to back up your interpretation.

One thing all people need to understand that the Levitical law was for the hebrew nation only.

The Cultic/Cultural law was given to the nation of Israel specifically. These laws are not cross cultural, they were for the purpose of building a nation, that would be God's chosen people and the linage of Christ. These laws seperated Israel from other nations. Laws of sacrifice of animals. Some of the laws are of Messianic linage, some to guarantee tribal inheritance of land. Of course many of these laws prohibited many behaviors. Rules were given that seem strange and cruel to our culture, but were specific to maintaining Israels total dependence on God. All of these laws ceased when their purpose was fulfilled, when Christ ended them. Most of these laws are contained within the holiness code outlined in Lev. 17-27. THis code was to seperate Israel from other secular culture and religious practices. Christ did away with all these laws. For anyone to attempt to keep them would be vainful and useless.

Again, Christ freed us from all this law. It serves no purpose. We live under one law..the law of love. It amazes me that people are bound to so much legalism. We are under grace, but many churches still abide in laws, rituals, ect, that have nothing to do with love. That's why so many churchs are filled with gossip, hyprocrisy, judging, ect...Truly miserable christians.


Rom. 8.13, "Nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything is unclean, to him it is unclean. That's clear and biblical. Nothing is unclean in itself. Clearly, sin can differ from individual as he views sin. This often changes one way or the other as people grow and study scripture. If it does not break the law of love and you can be happy in your concscience, the bible says you can freely act, as long as you don't become a stumbling block for someone that is weaker. Somethings you may not do in front of a weaker person. However, if you doubt in your conscience, you should not act, until it is resolved, Cor. 8:12.

Eaach person must exercise their faith before God. Roms. 14: 22-23 "The faith you have, have as your OWN CONVICTION before God. "HAPPY is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.";

This does two things. You are to base your decisions on love and not harming others, decide for yourself, do not let others decide for you, a church, Pastor, friend, ect. You must answer for your conscience, not theirs. It also takes away your right to judge others.

However, IMO Homosexuality breaks the law of love, not the act itself, but the social result of it. That is why God considers it sin.

As a corollary, Mark 9:43-49 talks about if a part of your body (eye, hand, foot) causes you to sin, cut it off. These body parts can be taken figuratively as bad habits (seeing, doing, going). However, Jesus says if these cause you to sin, tells you to cut these out of your life, not to cut them out of other people's. Those weaker in their faith will eventually become strong. In the meantime, maybe they just need to know "Don't try this at home -- we're professionals."
