I apologize for suggesting that anyone should take lightly the decision of leaving the Catholic Church. I well understand its teachings regarding those who are not part of the Church, and do not counsel anyone to leave any Church body.

I hae only one nit to pick with your post. Promises a person makes to God are between that person and God.

You are still missing the point.

What is this? Do as I say, not as I do?

These people have choosen to be LEADERS and set an example. Yes, they will screw up because they are human, but you excuse what they do because the liaty are a bunch of sinners?

I take it you're one of those people that don't think that priests or people in the church can do anything wrong? And even if they do, it is ok, they're a priest.

what does the abuse that goes on in other sects have to do with the Church, right now... as we type here today, allowing bishops who covered up the crime of sexual molestation to be hidden out in the Vatican?

She, nor I am talking about the 2 % of preist and somehow you think becuase it's just 2%, it's okay.... what if it were 78% who molested kids, what then?

Anyway, it's the fact that fast forward 40 years the bishop have been rewarded for covering it up.

When it comes to this evil, I will not be the churches apologist... it's not up to me to defend any bishop who did evil.

How have Bishops been rewarded for their mistakes on this?

They have cushy jobs in the Vatican. Look at Cardinal Law for crying out loud.

Cardinal Law was demoted from being bishop of an Archdioceses, to being put in charge of a shrine which is usually given to priest.

He's also placed under the watchful eye of his superior the Pope.

In a secular analogy, this is akin to a VP of an corporation, being brought to headquarters as a staff manager, with his office adjacent to the CEO's.

It makes many here in Europe angry, especially so in Germany since the Pope hasn't even deemed it necessary to voice a statement regarding the cases in his own homeland!

And Cardinal Law's assistant was given (made bishop of) the diocese of New Hampshire.

But Bishop McCormick hadn't done anything wrong, so I don't understand the rational here.

If folks are interested in his actions and inactions while acting as the cardinal's assistant, one need only google " Bishop McCormack actions in Boston"

I can forgive people while they're rotting in jail. I bet God can too. Personally, I would have an easier time forgiving guilty people who are rotting in jail than people who are guilty and not.

I guess I share your sentiment, but I don't know what you're getting at?

I was and still am, most angry with the bishops who covered up the crimes. They did nothing for the victim nor their own priests who are sick. By reassigning the priests they enabled them to continue in their sin and provided more victims. This is not feeding their sheep or their lambs.

Peace and all good,
Nancy

You know the fact is that some here are insinuating untruths here, Law is not 'hiding' or being shielded by anything.

They insinuate he is a fugitive- fact is that there are no criminal nor pending criminal charges against him- we have the parents of molested children who let the statute of limitations run out to thank for that one now dont we ?

I'm sure he's just suffering so much... and you have no idea why folks are angry, for real, you can not recognize the anger and why?

I'll give you a hint.... it due to the injustice of this situation- it's the injustice that cries to heaven for vengeance.
