That's funny, too, because God says that the god of this world is Satan!
Yeah, this would be one of those areas where I think people take one of the Bible's messages a little too far. I've seen this "enemy of the world" stuff being used to justify insane things in the name of fundamentalist Christianity.

Okay, let's leave the dogma outside. First, you're going to have to admit that religion is a part of it for this conversation to continue. You could very easily have been born elsewhere and raised Buddhist, and that relationship would not exist. It is directly connected to religion. Are you capable of acknowledging that?

Christianity in its true meaning, is a relationship with the living God through His living Son, Jesus.

Oh, I don't doubt that Christianity's guiding principles are contained in the Bible. It's just not called "God's Word" by anyone but confused fundamentalist Christians.

The Bible is called God's Word by those who actually know God.

The difference is simply the capitalization issue. On its face it's minor, yes, and certainly semantic, but its significance lies in the importance fundamentalists afford it. To answer your question, I view the Bible as an extremely useful moral and spiritual guidebook. Just as one might use a map or guidebook to explore a section of wilderness, I use the Bible to explore life. That doesn't mean that it's a perfect guidebook or that it can do things it wasn't intended to do (just like a map isn't intended to help with calculus).

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

The followers of Christ were first called Christians in Antioch, (Acts 11:26)

As indicated by the name "Christianity", the focus of Christian theology is a belief in Jesus as the Messiah or Christ. The title "Messiah" comes from the Hebrew word מָשִׁיחַ (māšiáħ) meaning "the anointed one" or "King." The Greek translation Χριστός (Christos) is the source of the English word Christ.

Christianity is a religion.

Some people think that. But the redeemed don't say it. They know that they are saved by God's grace through the blood of Jesus, and they have an intimate, individual, personal relationship with the Living God. It is bigger than a religion. God actually despises religion.

To speak of my relationship with Jesus as a religion would diminish it.

You can build it up all you want to be something else, but Christianity fits the definition of the word religion.

If it is a religion, is that a bad thing?

Are you a follower of Christ?

Do you try the best you can to follow His teachings?

If your answers are yes wouldn't that mean that you are part of Christianity?
