One group believes that the righteous path entails seeking tranquility and by loving other people; the other believes that adhering to an absolute will is paramount, ignoring all circumstances and changes in the world.Changes in the world, or changes in the philosophies and theories held by the world?
Could it be that our hearts are so hardened by our worldviews that we're too jaded to listen for God’s loving voice?
I will certainly pray about this.
Nonetheless, we need to be ready in season and out of season, and we are to speak the truth in boldness. If love was not in my heart as I spoke those words, then I will repent. However, I do believe that speaking the truth in love with boldness, often causes people to view it as unloving, because it doesn't line up with the fuzzy wuzzy, It's all good, attitude that the world has. For speaking the Word with boldness, I will not apologize.
I KNOW! We have the same situation in the church I go to as well. We have unwed mothers, men that are addicted to porn, people addicted to drugs, and there was a man that came the other day with alcohol on his breath and passed out before the service was over.
I just didnt know the rules! Surely there is documentation of the rules somewhere, I'm sure that poster wouldnt just be passing on stereotypes without any real knowledge of the truth would he?
Nooooooo.... he's a "liberal Christian" and I've always heard they are the "Judge Not" crowd. Surely he wouldnt be judging our churches based on stereotypes and rumors would he savedandhappy1?
Oh dear. First, the Bible is a collection of works written by men with the inspiration of God. It isn't full of God's words. It's full of the words of a bunch of men who were inspired by God. Second, the title "God's Word" is reserved for Christ. Nowhere is scripture referred to as "God's Word". If you see "Word" capitalized, it means Christ.
No, it isn't.Jesus is all through the Old Testament. It's all about Him. God's Word is the entire Bible.
You follow the god you follow because you like the characteristics of the religion, whether you're willing to admit to that or not.
Okay, let's leave the dogma outside. First, you're going to have to admit that religion is a part of it for this conversation to continue. You could very easily have been born elsewhere and raised Buddhist, and that relationship would not exist. It is directly connected to religion. Are you capable of acknowledging that?I follow after my Creator...Jehovah God Himself, the One true God. Religion isn't a part of that, because it is a relationship I have with the only living God, through His Son, Jesus Christ.
No, it isn't.

Doing as the scriptures tell us to do is not always fuzzy wuzzy, that is for sure.
God Bless!!
Oh, I don't doubt that Christianity's guiding principles are contained in the Bible. It's just not called "God's Word" by anyone but confused fundamentalist Christians.Oh yes it certainly is! God's entire message to the world is contained in those 66 books of the Bible. You need to stop and take stock in what lies you are choosing to believe.
You are deceived and are deceiving others by stating the contrary.
They couldn't write about homosexuality because they had no knowledge of sexuality.
No, it isn't.
And again, is there a translation you can find that capitalizes the "word" in "God's word" anywhere but in reference to Christ? The scriptures referred to in this passage, is the Old Testament.
Amen! I can not promise to pray everyday, but I do promise to pray, because this is not a war of flesh and blood! My promise of daily prayer has not been broken, and it still continues toward you. Please also join with me in prayer for all eyes to be open to the truth of God.

The world around us is God's truth.
The difference is simply the capitalization issue. On its face it's minor, yes, and certainly semantic, but its significance lies in the importance fundamentalists afford it. To answer your question, I view the Bible as an extremely useful moral and spiritual guidebook. Just as one might use a map or guidebook to explore a section of wilderness, I use the Bible to explore life. That doesn't mean that it's a perfect guidebook or that it can do things it wasn't intended to do (just like a map isn't intended to help with calculus).Just out of curiosity, what do you view the Bible as? Apparently not "God's word" (at least in the sense that "fundamentalists" use it). In all my studies, both personal and academic concerning scripture, whenever I've used the phrase "God's word," I've meant it only to refer to the divine message communicated through human penmanship in canonized scripture. Is this not what scripture is?
