I don't encourage anyone to listen to secular music but there is one song by Seal called State of Grace which seems like it was written for me. (Not all the lyrics apply to me, because my sins don't have to do with any "encounter"). I think of this song literally every day.
"I can't seem to find my state of grace, who knows tomorrow may never come..."
I'd like to upload a video for one of the live performances of it that I think is spectacular (Seal at Beacon Theater 7/17/12), but I'm concerned that the dance moves may be too suggestive to post here, or maybe I'm being too scrupulous.
My earworm of the week is Resucito, the great Easter song by Kiko Arguello, I can't get out of my head. He composed it in 1972, following a profound spiritual crisis that led him to live among the poor in Madrid. I first heard it in 1975 at a conference in Rome.
This arrangement is available in the OCP Flor y Canto and GIA Gather hymnals. The Andalusian chord progression has a Spanish/ Flamenco/ Mariachi feel. There are several other arrangements by different choirs.
While there is a version with singable English text, I really prefer the text of the direct Spanish-to-English translation. Verses in the video differ slightly from these.
