If a proton requires an electron to transform into a neutron - then a neutron has an electron. So any proton claimed to have only 3 quarks - is as valid as any theory claiming a neutron has only three quarks. Because with inverse Beta Decay (creating one - not destroying it) it takes both a proton (3 quarks) and an electron (supposedly no quarks) to make a neutron. So if making a neutron requires both a proton and an electron - then a neutron is composed of both a proton and an electron, not just three quarks.

Suddenly we have gone from talking about a single neutron - into an atomic structure of it's own that includes a proton and an electron. So in every atom in which a neutron is posited to be - it must be a proton and an electron in their own binding system which appears as a neutral particle.

IMO a neutron is much more - it acts as a Faraday Cage to internal charges. It is the balancing force between all the particles in a system when more than a single proton or electron exists.

I reject being told it takes a proton and an electron to make a neutron - but a neutron has no protons or electrons. I simply reject such contradictions.

Neutron decay (also called beta minus decay) is mediated by the weak nuclear force. Weird things happen.

A neutron has slightly more mass than a proton (which is why it readily decays outside the nucleus but protons don't). Protons have a mass of 938.256 MeV whilst neutrons are 939.550 MeV. This is crucial to the process and the explanation for the emission of the electron and electron antineutrino.

A neutron consists of two Up and one Down quarks equalling zero charge. When it decays one of the Down quarks becomes an Up quark through the weak nuclear force.

The means that we now have a proton and we've gone from charge of 0 to charge of +1. However, overall charge must be maintained so there must be a negative charge somewhere. The process of the decay is mediated by a virtual W- boson which is emitted and then incredibly quickly decays into an electron (charge of -1) and an electron antineutrino (neutral charge).

So now we have conserved charge, mass also has to be conserved. We've gone from a neutron (938.256 MeV) to a proton (939.550 MeV) so that difference has to go somewhere. That energy goes into the electron and the electron antineutrino. When you run the calculations (way to complicated for me!) both charge and mass are conserved.

I hope this helps explain it better - I'm not sure what you meant by quarks being lost or gained.

I'll do some reading about electron capture - sounds interesting but I'm no expert.

Fairie Dust dark matter is well accepted theory too - doesn't make it real.

The Milky-Way being the entire universe was once well accepted theory too. That didn't turn out to well as knowledge increased.

What's accepted does not mean true. It means it's the only thing they can currently devise to explain things. But contradictions are clear.

Yes - they have lots of pretty graphs and maths to justify their claims - but they had lots of graphs and math to justify claiming the Milky-Way was the entire universe too.

The contradictions and errors lie buried deep in the theory - hidden from casual glances, but there nonetheless. Not saying it doesn't work ok to explain things as we currently perceive them - but so did the maths of an entire universe the size of the Milky-Way. Until knowledge increased and brought about a new way of looking at things not perceived before.

No, a neutron does not contain an electron. A neutron is made of three quarks. A proton is made of three quarks. Neither 'contain' an electron.

As you can see from the Feynman diagram below, the proton-electron interaction is governed by the weak force.

In order for a proton to become a neutron one of its Up quarks must become a Down quark. This means changing the charge overall from +1 to 0. That charge is removed by a W+ boson which in turn converts the electron into a neutrino (going from -1 to 0 charge). This conserves charge. Energy can also be released in the form of gamma rays so energy/mass is also conserved.

I am amazed that a anyone cannot see those displays as completely occultic. Everything mentioned in the End Times is there - so whatever else could it all mean? the whole displays - how could anyone relate just a small part of them as everyday occurrances? I just shake my head with amazement at denials of - Christians?

I don't like naming one person but will for example. Again I mentioned Pastor John Hagee. I know he is far from perfect but I was selling his books 40 years ago in my Christian Book Centre. He was a millionaire then - simply from his books as a top Christian author. He is still a top best- selling author. His has a multi-million $ online ministry and spends millions on Israel and the poor. He doesn't draw from his ministry - he doesn't need to - for his books alone support him. Therefore I believe he is someone to listen to although I do not agree with all of his Republican ideas...and other things. I go long periods where I stop listening to his online sermons as I get annoyed at him! No-one is perfect. We have to discern with the spirit how to progress in our Christian walk. There will always be naysayers to our beliefs but that is all part of our walk with Him

So how long has he been saying the End Times are imminent? 40 years? Can we get a working definition of "imminent" please?

Could you cite some specific examples, please? Something said in scripture that is a clear reference to CERN's activities at the LHC?

This is the CENTER OF MASS ENERGY of Lead Particles
Highest energy to date is 13 TeV with Protons
Tera = 10 followed by 12 zeros Peta = 10 followed by 15 zeros Collisions of Lead Ions will produce 1,148 TeV, exceeding the 13 TeV from collisions of Protons.

To be blunt Malvina, I think that the paranoid, illogical and often deluded attitude of 'End timers' and Bible literalists are more likely to drive people away from your religion. No rational person is going to be convinced that CERN is opening up a portal that will release plagues of locust monsters or that CERN is part of an occult conspiracy.

With the odd exception like Dawkins etc, Science has no interest in attacking religion or promoting atheism (or the occult as you claim). To most of us, atheists and Christians alike, trying to expand the boundaries of human knowledge and understand how the world works is a wonderful thing.

First of all I don't have a religion - I am a Christian that is not a religion but a belief in God the Father and His Son Jesus
I went in my shell for years and it is only lately I have become more actively evangelistic because I sincerely believe we are in the end times and I'm concerned for the lost. CERN lines up with everything in Revelation and I feel strongly is being used by satan to win the world over to him.
I am on facebook connected to a large family in England and Australia also friends and Christian family.
When I first posted things relating to The Lord they often deleted them and I had some tell me they were unable to believe
Over the past few weeks things have changed. They read the messages and watch the videos and of late are even posting similar themselves... so it is not true! it doesn't put people off but does convict some which is the main purpose to help them make it right with their saviour before it is too late.
All the time that I think people are going to suffer for not accepting Jesus I will do my best to help them.
For my part I am excited about the wonderful time I will have with Jesus in the not too distant future regardless of my age.

Hey Malvina, I hope I didn't offend you, Christians are alright as far as I'm concerned and I like Jesus' style - I just don't get all this conspiracy and end times stuff. I appreciate that you should probably dismiss my opinion as an atheist but the message I got from the New Testament was more peace and love than doom-mongering and unfounded finger pointing.
