.

The question that had rolled around in my head for years was something my father said when I was a kid. He wanted to know where in the bible it said to worship on Sunday. From my understanding of scripture, the early Christians still kept the Sabbath
True.

In fact if you search the NT for "every Sabbath" you can find corporate worship, reading scripture, gospel preaching to both gentiles and Jews etc .

But when it comes to "every week day 1" the only thing you find is something about each person saving up by themselves at home -- some funds for charitable giving.
and then gathered on the first day of the week to commemorate the Resurrection day
If there is a "we gather every week day one to commemorate the resurrection" statement in the NT I am not aware of it. Please share one if you know of any. It would be much appreciated.
. However, nowhere in the NT does it say to abandon the Sabbath.
yeah that is true.

In fact in Is 66:23 for all eternity after the cross , in the New Earth "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all mankind come before Me to worship"
I'll admit I've been a very lazy Christian for the last couple of years...it's a long story. But, God, once HE grabs you, doesn't let go. So, I ran across Doug Batchelor and a few others on Youtube of all places, which led me to do more research online, on the SDA official website. There is a SDA church just down the road a little way from me, I'm thinking of going next week.

Is there anything you can tell me about what to expect?

Thanks!
welcoming you with open arms - I expect.

Right now I am Wading through "The Christians Reasonable Service" by Wilhelmus à Brakel. First published in 1700, The Christian's Reasonable Service (De Redelijke Godsdienst) ran through twenty Dutch editions in the eighteenth century alone! I recommend it. The Christian's Reasonable Service
Sounds interesting. That book is about 150 years before the Seventh-day Adventist church came into being. But I will look it up.

The Protestant Reformation emphasized Bible truth that had been hidden for centuries, even though those truths were clearly in the text of scripture prior to the Reformation..

And in the NT - the gospel writers said that the idea that the Gospel was for the entire world had been a mystery to a number of people for centuries before the time of Christ -- even though it was clearly in the text of scripture.

. Please read my answer to Freth.
. What do you think of Jesus when he said in Matthew 24:36 "However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself." For 2 years (1843-1844) William Miller and Ellen G. White were foretelling the date of Jesus retrun.
. Where is Jesus Christ right now ? Where was he in 1844 ? Where did he go when he ascended to His Father and sent us the Holy Spirit ?
. Please, understand I don't want to be negative or turn down anyone. I've been searching the Bible over and over and reading Ellen G. White to see how her teachings fit. But they don't. Besides this, you need to know that the church, here in south of France, is like Babylone. At the board, you have :
- someone who comitted adultery and has been living for years with her lover without being married.
- 2 persons who work on Sabbath as social workers.
Among those who have postions, you have :
- A woman who has been hunting men, whether they're in couple or not, but secretly
- A man having sex with another woman from church. Everybody knows it.
- Books are sold on sabbaths at church
- The pastor wrote inviting everyone to go and watch "The Chosen" at a catholic church.
I talked to the pastor about all these facts and she said it was all right!

The southern conference has asked the adventist manager of the youth camp/seminary/lecture- meeting place/ restaurant/hotel to sign his work contract accepting to work on Saturdays!
- I moved and went to another church. I tried to be persistent, turn my head the other side and go ahead with adventists but discovered that this other church closes one Saturday a month because they want to spend time with their friends and family.

My letter has just been sent. I'm leaving Babylone... My heart is crying. I love all my brothers and sisters. I love you all. But I'm honest and can't bear this burden anymore. God has told me 3 times this last month to do it. It's done...
I think we have done a pretty good job of answering all of your questions and concerns you claimed no SDA could answer on the bible questions you asked. I didn't hear a response back from you addressing the biblical responses.

The SDA church has over 20 million people in it, no one believes all SDA's are saved and especially if they are going away from biblical doctrines like committing adultery, without repenting and turning from their sin, like King David. I am sure you will find that in all churches. Why we shouldn't fixate on what others are doing but fixate on Jesus Christ and what He asks of us. John 14:15 Mat 5:19-30 Mat 15:3-14 Jesus will sort out the wheat from the tares and no one can read anyone else's heart except Jesus, so best to keep our eyes on Him. I have been in the church for a long time, went away for a while, came back with a much stronger conviction, my dad was an SDA pastor and I have never seen books sold on the Sabbath. Not saying some off shoot church doesn't, which should be reported to the GC, but I have gone to a lot of SDA's churches in my lifetime and not once have seen this happen. Seems like your issues are more with one specific church in your area. I know when I moved I had to go to several SDA churches before finding the right one. If we are going to church for the people, we are going for the wrong reasons. We keep the Sabbath to give back our worship. I do not believe all SDA churches are equal and have experienced this myself, but I believe we have the closest doctrine to the bible and Jesus will sort out everything else.

That said, I am sorry to hear you leave, but want you to know that I will be praying for you and wish you nothing but the best.

God bless!

MOD HAT ON

This thread has had a cleanup of posts that responded to a post that was flaming Seventh Day Adventists.

Seventh Day Adventists are a recognized Christian group of members here at CF, and therefore these rules apply to them:
  • Do not personally attack (insult, belittle, mock, ridicule) other members or groups of members on CF, or use nicknames to do so.
  • Stating or implying that another Christian member, or group of members, are not Christian is not allowed.
Moreover, the 7th day safe house forum is a safe house for those who believe in a 7th day sabbath, and that includes Seventh Day Adventists. Please treat them with respect in their own safe space.
