Today at 1:45pm (or so) Millie and Mia Farrell joined our family! They are 10 wk old Maine Coon mix kittens. I'm absolutely in love with them as is Mike. Willow really isn't sure about the idea of having little sisters but Xander seems like he's going to be okay with them.

Currently, the girls are in the bathroom with their own bed, litter box and food/water dishes. Xander is camped out in front of the door. I think formal intros will happen next week.

Pictures to come later. :)

I looked them up. Do they really get that big? They could eat livestock. You have two of them?

You'll need this to handle the kitty litter:

Yes Maine Coons get huge. We had one when I was growing up. Chip was the size of a medium dog and all sweetheart.

The girls are adorable. They're probably not going to get as big as an MC but they'll be big girls. Was watching "Kitten Smackdown" in the bathroom just a few minutes ago. They're hilarious. Minnie was literally caroming off the walls! Mia is a little stalk and startle princess.

Brought them out of the bathroom to meet their big brother and sister. Xander's tail never went down...he was excited to meet his new sisters! Minnie wasn't so impressed but Mia hopped down off of my shoulder and strode right up to Xander and bonked him on the nose. Xander looked up at me and did this high pitched trill and buzzed down the hallway.

Williow and Millie came face to face. You heard this reaaaaaly tiny little "hiss" and then another tiiiiny but not so tiny hiss and then a itty bitty little hiss growl and then Willow sprinted away. I think they'll get to be buddies as soon as they realize that they're just hissing at "I don't KNOW you!"

So they're back in the bathroom again. We're keeping them separated because Millie and Mia have fleas (the woman swore there were no fleas but...I saw them!) and ear mites. We have them on Revolution and they'll go back to the vet in 2 weeks for their second set of vaccinations and rabies shots. Then a month and they'll have their third boosters and it'll be spay time!

They sound so cute--I love huge cats. My husband thinks our Cyrus might be part Maine Coon. I think he's just an ordinary domestic long hair (cat speak for kitty-mutt). But he weighs 15 pounds and is just a year old. Ya just never know with strays. He's a brown/black tiger and his tail looks like a raccoon's. What color are your new babies?

An excellent lap cat ... so long as your bones are in good health.

Have you ever wanted to chat with someone so badly you could just scream? I'm just feeling so overwhelmed with everything lately, I don't think I can take it anymore. It's not any one special thing: if anything, it's the fact that I don't get enough sleep and I'm dogged-tired. Don't know if I can, though: I don't get much time to myself ... I just want 'me' time, but to get it I stay up late.

I'm sure that makes everything else worse: the tenuous job situation, the economy, the finances, Obama trying to dictate my life, miniscule health problems, etc. A big part of why I can't handle it is because I'm not rested.

It'd be nice to talk with someone, but there's no one to talk to. I don't have many face-to-face friends, the local Stephen's Ministry can't help me, LFS charges, I'm a contractor so I don't have any legitimate employee benefits, and my pastor has problems that are WAY bigger than mine - it wouldn't be right.

I'll bet they look just like your boy, 'bloomer! They're the brown 'n black tiger stripes as well. Does your boy have the "M" on his forehead? That's a distinctive mark of a Maine Coon or MC mix. (our girls are considered Domestic short hairs as well. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if their fur gets to be medium haired.)

Here's a picture

Millie is in the front and Mia is in the back looking like she's trouble. She is!

Today was a lousy day!:argh: I missed church and then it was a hundred eight degrees!:hot:
I'M Melllllltinggggggg.... I'm Mellllltinnnnnnggggggg.... what-a-world, what-a-world, what-a-wooooooorllllllld!:waaah:

And as if that wasn't enough, the tank ran out of water. Good thing I put a bunch of gallon jugs of the stuff aside whilst I had it. ;) My poor tomatoes! :sigh: They looked positively broiled! The worst part of it is; that July isn't even here yet. Well... almost, but not quite. One good thing I found out today was that the electrical on my Travel-Eze (trailer) works! I was afraid it wouldn't. The airconditioner even runs! It wouldn't stay cool... but, Hey! Just the fact that it didn't trip the breakers and die off on me is a great thing!:ok: The coach is on a seventy-five foot extension cord right now. The drop is probably the reason for the A.C. not wanting to work right. I even found a classic trailer restoration shop, in Redding, that'll help with the restoration on not only the Travel-Eze, but the Terry too! Cool beans for a cheap-skate like me!:p

By the by, those Maine Coon cats sound like just the ticket around here. They'd be able to take care of themselves. We have a hard time keeping cats around here. Either one or another preditor seems to think they're, um... well... snack food. Hence, George and I (though we really need one for the mice and so on) won't keep cats.

Kae, Cyrus does look a lot like your girls. Your girls have beautiful mackeral tabby markings. Cyrus' stripes are broken, like long narrow spots, and his necklaces are broken. His tail and the bottoms of his paws are mostly black. His M is broken too. His tail is almost as wide as he is, since he has long hair. Silly cat, likes to sleep on his back. We used to have an orange tiger that had really nice mackerel tabby markings. My in-laws have a nice looking classic tabby, black and gray, with swirls instead of stripes. They live on a farm and he just showed up one day. I didn't know the M was a sign of a Maine Coon. I just thought it was normal for tabbies aka tiger cats. You have a pair of real beauties there.

Hmm, we watched Ice Age 2 last night, any behaviors like Crash and Eddie, the possum brothers of Ellie the mammoth that was raised by possums?

Studeclunker, sounds like you need a cat substitute. A terrier, maybe? Or a skunk or a snake? Something the coyotes won't bother. My parents used to live on an acreage, next door to a hay field. They had a problem with gophers/ground squirrels. They had a cat for a while, until the cat disappeared like unneutered barn cats will do. Eventually, a snake moved in under their garage and all the little critters disappeared.

Thanks LB! They sure are sweet little girls. Mia has a bum paw right now. Mike and I took her to the vet last night since she wasn't putting any weight on it at all and if it touched anything, she'd cry. Luckily the vet didn't see any breaks. We're giving her some pain meds and keeping her "quiet". She's more of a "ticked" color than actual mackerel though her markings are under the ticking.

Millie is VERY well marked. And she's one of the bravest cats I've ever owned. She's not at all afraid of the bathtub and cries if I don't put her up on the side with me. She'll bat at the water and even tried to jump in today. I caught her just in time! She would NOT have liked the bath water! (or I don't think she would. I might have to see what she does with the shower...)

LOL, gotta love those water babies. Cyrus likes to lounge in the sink or bathtub as long as there's no water. I used to have a cat that loved water. She'd come in the bathtub or shower and go wading. I didn't bathe alone the 15 years I had her. I think she was part Siamese.

Tomorrow is my 3rd anniversary here at CF. I've sure seen a lot of changes.

Thanks to all who are my friends. I feel blessed to know you.

Gosh, you've only been on here six months more than me? Gosh.

We're also blessed to know the founder of what has to be the most successful thread in the entire board!:D:clap: Keep it up Luv!;)

Well, the drought here in No. Cal. is beginning to be felt all 'round. Most of the cities around here are already talking about water rationing and our spring has begun to dry up. We're getting a little less than a hundred gallons every day. I'm going to have to remove the water pump from the motorhome and use it to fill a tank from the stream. Hopefully, the neighbors won't give me too much trouble about it. Some of the smaller trees around here are already showing stress from lack of water. There's not a lot I can do and will likely lose them. I hope and pray we get more snow and cold weather next year. Otherwise, we're in trouble.

Thanks, Stude.

Sorry to hear about the lack of water in your area. Prayers for you and those around you.
