Kae I know how you feel, we've lost a couple of dogs and a couple of horses and its rough. Praying for you and your cat!!! God bless you
So...if you could please...pray that God gives him more years to be with his human Mommy? I can't take losing him right now.
Thanks everyone,
Kae
Prayers for Oscar! We have a kitty too...I feel a little strange asking this...but...Oscar is one of God's creatures too so...(and I'm going to ask that there be no inappropriate...or even if you think it might be appropriate...dead cat jokes or I hate cats comments. Please.)
My boy cat, Oscar is getting ready to turn 13 a couple of days after Easter. Late last week I noticed that he just wasn't himself. Knowing that he's getting older, I took him to the vet for a check up. Vet said there's something wrong but his symptoms are so slight (and he's so cranky) that they'd need blood tests to make sure. The three contenders for older cats are Thyroid disease (treatable and curable) Diabetes (treatable) and Kidney disease (neither treatable nor curable but palative care can be done to help extend life and keep him comfortable)
Vet just called with the test results of his blood work. He has chronic kidney disease which means it's been going on for a while and he could either continue like this for years OR he could go downhill VERY fast no matter what we do for him.
This is my baby. I've had him since before he was born. (his mommy cat lives at my parent's place) I watched him be born, I've done everything in my power to keep him healthy and happy (and rather spoiled.)
So...if you could please...pray that God gives him more years to be with his human Mommy? I can't take losing him right now.
Thanks everyone,
Kae
He won't faint. Subcutaneous injections aren't difficult once you get used to giving them and there is little blood loss if any. We used to always buy our pet vaccine kits at the co-op to save money and cats don't squeal like dogs do. The biggest issue is sticking yourself.
Well, I have returned from wandering around the world. Enjoyed the summer time temps and returned to where there is still snow on the ground, although much less. Yep, even got a little sunburned although that will fade fast.
Now to convince myself that I am in the CDT time zone and am not in the China time zone or whatever they call it, I will be good. Seeing the niece in Taiwan was great. She serves as an LCMS missionary teaching English and Religion there.
Looks like there have been good times here on the forum. I think I have gotten caught up here.
I learned how to brew green tea while there and brought some back with me. Got good at eating with chopsticks, the first meal served on the plane, I was looking for my sticks, oops now is the time for forks!
Well, it is time for me to try to get back to bed. See you all later.

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to have much trouble. I had to give myself injections for a bit for my Factor V Leiden.
Mike is another case though. *G* He used to be a phlebotomist so he's used to sticking people. However, when I was in the ER for something or another (don't really remember) I was sitting there joking with the student nurse who was digging around in my hand for my (rather prominent) vein. Mike went down like a sack o' bricks. LOL
He said it wasn't the fact that I was getting stuck. It was the fact that *I* was getting stuck. If you catch what I'm saying.
Oscar is a grumpy old man for the most part. He'll be all grumpy with me and I may have to towel him but, I think we'll get through this.
Thanks Porter!
Kae
