I personally hate the horrible witchy poo pointed shoes they make the women wear!
And the off the wall prints and hideous striped blouses. The Brit version of it is far worse about it, but eee gad, would I so NOT be a success by their standards.

Shorts and Wellies!

You know what's funny? They totally bashed capris on what show and then a year later had a lady buy capris!!!

Some of their "rules" are good to go by, but for me, the layered look just does not look and the V-necks usually show too much cleavage for my own liking (and to wear to church).

Went to that church I'd been going to that lost the pastor to a call this morning. Anyway went to bible study too. The visiting pastor was sitting in there and they started talking about how this church will greet people and love them, etc. Well the visiting pastor spoke up talking about how small newer churches accept new people and then put a wall up and won't let new people in, like letting them come but not involving them in anything making them feel left out. A few spoke up and said oh no we don't do that. He said it again and said you need to get past that wall and get new people involved to... I don't know if it will sink in them or not.

I'm not quite followin you ctay, is the church uilty of this or not? I can't even imaine this happening

Oops forgot to put it does happen. They don't have anything to get in like bible studies or women's groups or like a Ladies aid or LWML so mainly if anything happens, you either get asked or you don't.

There are couple ways to keep this from happening. One is to have a new member greeting committee and make sure new members are introduced to ladies aid president etc. , In our church we had a committee put together a new member packet which inlcudes pictures, listings of all the churchs function, our web site, addresses to the synods web site, a copy of our synods statement "This we believe" and many other things. Every new member gets one of these, plus being persoanly contacted and welcomed into the church and encouraged to join in on all functions. It took us almost a year to put together this packet and many minds were and many peoples talenst were used to make the best we can. No new member should ever feel left out, so I share your concern. :)

We have a similar problem. One of the reasons for this is that nobody knows who is in charge of what. One of the suggestions was to have a picture durectory of the officers, board chairmen, and group/committee leaders so that everyone could identify who is in charge of what function.
We also discussed such things as adding a communication committee to disseminate information to the congregation members through various medium, having a social function committee, among other things.

They don't have any commitees, maybe outreach. I've seen people get upset if the church got decorated for something and no mention of it happening or asking if anyone wanted to help or if someone died arguing who was going to take food over. They need like a ladies group that anyone can join where they decorate or take food over. Other committees too. They have to many bosses and not enough helpers.

One of the blessings we have is a good active ladies group. They are usually up to anything that someone asks for. The only problem is that no one else is allowed to use the refridgerator for ANYTHING!!

I suppose you keep the sacramental wine in a separate, smaller fridge then?
Heaven knows you wouldn't want to upset their apple cart. :D

Navy's a color that usually looks good on everyone, too.

Tiger has a new purple "dress". We went to Relay for Life Friday night. One of the organizers told me they had ordered a special t-shirt for him, but the "small" still came to his ankles. We tucked it up into his jeans so he could walk. He had a wonderful time. He'll probably have his picture in the paper this week. They took his picture and asked his name when he was doing the Survivors' Lap with my mom.
How was Relay for Life? I had to miss it this year. Went to the LWML convention. Instead of getting a free purple t-shirt, I bought, well, let's not go there.

Wow, I leave for 4 days and things get hoppin' around here. Had a great time at the convention.

I think the most moving/inspiring part was listening to the two who represented POBLO. They brought several women with them who were converts. One woman, who had converted from Islam, took the message of Jesus to her family and friends. Last count, 52 people had converted from Islam to Christianity because of her conversion, profession of faith! Gave me chills when I heard that. God is good! God is great!

Was one of them Pastor Josh Hollman from Montreal?
