I have a friend with the happy theory that there are no calories in free food. I don't think it works, tho.

If you drink a diet soda and eat a candy bar they cancel each other out. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. :)

I gave up drinking diet soda yeas ago. Tow men I worked with had brain cancer in the same year and died. Now just a few monthes ago a lady from our church has it, but she has a chance to live, not a big one though.

Now I just drink water or fruit juice. Its healthier Ya know ;) Oh, and I do now drink one cup of coffee a day, its a big one though. :D

Hmmm... I wonder if that's why I've lost 25 pounds in the last few months. I've had to replace several pieces of my wardrobe lately.
Wish i could do that. I weigh about 5 pounds less then I have for the past year, and I can't get lower than that. I want to go for 160, but I don't think that's going to happen.

Yep you're probably better off without it. I don't drink colas anymore and just stay with diet 7-up.

I just wore out my ice tea maker and am now using my coffee maker to make tea. I like tea better than coffee now that I haven't made it in awhile. Drinking the healthy tea to, like green tea.

caffeine tricks your body into thinking it's dehydrated so you retain water. If you have coffee, tea, or caffeinated soda, I would take the tea, and even better, green tea, but you have to drink extra water to make up for the caffeine that's in it, because even green tea has it. You can get decaf tea, but decaf tea that tastes good costs a small fortune.

At work we still have a couple of ephedra cases trudging along in federal court, and since ephedra was usually mixed with caffeine, we got an education on it. My boss has completely cut out caffeine from his diet after taking these cases. I've cut my consumption down to the iced tea I have with lunch almost every day.

We also looked into litigation regarding aspartame (sweetener in most diet soft drinks) and the link to cancer. Personally, I can handle a diet soda, but I can't used nutrasweet in my tea because that gives me nasty headaches. We came to the conclusion that there probably is a link, but it's hard to litigate because the people who were calling us to inquire, drank so much soda (like 12pack+ a day) that there would be all kinds of alternate causation.

There's Splenda, and more sodas are containing it, but chlorine is used in the chemical process of turning the sugar into splenda (I want to say it's sucralose, but I'm not sure). Some of the chlorine stays in the final product. That can do all kinds of stuff to your stomach. Still, I use it once in a while, and will mix it with sugar in some of my cooking.

So, I guess we all stick to water then?

Don't you believe her. My abs disappeared six years ago when I went to work for Greyhound. I'm still trying to uncover them.:sigh:

Just be happy that you had the pleasure in life to discover it before you passed on to the next life. Remember there are no regrets in heaven. ;)

I promise that, should I find the secret to eating fair food without gaining mega pounds, I will share! *G*

My thought is that I'll exercise more that week and limit myself to ONE day of TASTING stuff. Mike (my fiance) will just have to eat what's left over. :D

Flipper, prayers for you and for the 2 young ones. I pray that everything will work out according to God's will. I am adopted myself so, should you ever have questions about what it's like to be adopted...let me know.

Water is pretty much my beverage of choice now. I had to give up caffeine ages ago when I was diagnosed with a heart problem. Now the problem has pretty much reversed itself but I'm still not a caffeine drinker...unless it's tea. Mmmm I love tea. Milk is my 3rd beverage choice. I'm pretty easy to please in that respect. *G*

When I was at the sem I had one of the 4 cup coffee makers and a travelers mug that held the whole pot. I would fill it up in the morning and carry it to class. The problem was that by early afternoon I would come crashing down from the caffein and the rest of the day would be shot. :p

Be careful what you drink. Or rather, how you drink.
THIS happened recently in North Texas .
A woman went boating one Sunday taking with her some cans of coke which she put into the refrigerator of the boat. On Monday she was taken to the hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit. She died on Wednesday.

The autopsy concluded she died of Leptospirosis. This was traced to the can of coke she drank from, not using a glass. Tests showed that the can was infected by dried rat urine and hence the disease Leptospirosis.

Rat urine contains toxic and deathly substances. It is highly recommended to thoroughly wash the upper part of soda cans before drinking out of them. The cans are typically stocked in warehouses and transported straight to the shops without being cleaned.

A study at NYCU showed that the tops of soda cans are more contaminated than public toilets (i.e).. full of germs and bacteria. So wash them with water before putting them to the mouth to avoid any kind of fatal accident !

WASH THEM!!!

That's why you switch from coffee to soda with Cafeine in the afternoon. Always keep the high going. :D
