I guess none of it is getting much past western Louisiana this year. We are well above our average, but that means our lake will fill and money will follow.

An Autumn Lutheran Rose
Who says you need water for a beach? In Iowa, there's a huge bicycle ride every summer--thousands of people ride bikes from one side of the state to the other during what usually is the hottest week of the summer. The host towns where they stay overnight tend to have a theme for their night. One year a while back a town imported tons of sand for a beach party. No ocean, no lake, just lots of sand.

They were on the phone this evening picking out the hymn we will sing at the wedding. (bullitin gets printed tomorrow) I couldn't help but overhear.
It was really sweet to hear them discuss the importance of just the right one. My son would kill me if he knew I was discussing this on a forum for all to see.

I'm at a fairly well-managed level of chaos right now. We'll be heading northwest-ish tomorrow, on the yearly trek from Maryland to Michigan for a week with my family. My dad's 85, mostly blind, and uses oxygen, so instead of him travelling to us (Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio), we come to him.
Gem is all excited about seeing her "beach cousins" as she calls them, since we usually rent a beach house for the week.
I even looked up the possibility of stopping by St. John's the Sunday of our trip home, since we go through Pennsylvania. Sorry, DaRev, it's just too far out of our way.
Besides, you and Hunter would probably just argue. *grins*
I did my shopping last night, and got a new summer wardrobe, a la Walmart. They even had some sweet things in the fat-lady's department, rather than just plain tee-shirts or blouses exploding with huge flowers (the normal two extremes for plus-sized summer wear).
Gem's so excited. She's a "big girl" this trip (she's six this year), so she has a new little cosmetics bag for her OWN toiletries, and she very carefully filled the shampoo and soap bottles herself. Plus picked out her favorite barrettes and hair ties to take with her.
Hunter's been burning our CDs for the trip, and I've been tracking down all the library books, making hotel reservations, stopping the milk delivery, arranging for a house- and cat-sitter...
By this time tomorrow we should be getting ready to get on the road.
