Thanks Stude, I have been looking at that since I refuse to allow him to take statins. His cholesterol was just a bit off and the docs zeroed in on it even though his bp is low and is othewise healthy. I'm having our doc check his vitamin D levels as well. I've been studying what I can do naturally to help lower his risks of another stroke and help his healing.

What is the best news is that he spent a long time talking to my pastor yesterday and we talked well into the night about God, Jesus, being a Lutheran and all kinds of good things. I used the Treasury of Daily Prayer and Starks prayer book with him and we prayed together (first time in ages). I hope he does continue. I've been praying for years for him.

mary emily - that is very encouraging - God uses all things for His Glory.....it's so sad that he (well, both of you) is going through this, but sometimes it takes "The Holy 2X4" for people to see the light......

i pray that he recovers quickly, and i pray for strength for both of you, and i pray that he continues listening to the Holy Spirit......

We've had heat but for July it seems like we've had more rain than normal too

You got this incredible heat as well? By late afternoon the ac is straining and I've got every fan I own blowing all over the house to keep it cooler. I'm hoping it's over by Sunday I think they said. No rain, but we've had enough for the year. Going from floods to drought and heat. biblical ^_^

I don't know exactly what my pastor said to him, but I've never seen my husband speechless like that, and he kept looking off to the distance and he was trying not to cry. I asked him how the pastor ended the conversation and he said "with a prayer" and got all misty eyed again. Must have been a doozy. I think the Holy Spirit is working overtime with him.

Anyone going to try RevFisk's Potato Salad recipe he just videoed? It was interesting, adding meat to it. I've never heard of adding meat to potato salad.

You've never had bacon in your potato salad?

Today is my baptism birthday (and my brother and husband's too). Today we got test results from an open vermiculite bag in the basement (also used in our attic). Negative for asbestos. Praise God for all his graces :)

Those of you suffering with the heat have my deepest sympathies. All the same I'm lovin' this weather we're having. So far, it's the most plesant Summer (here in Trinity County) since I moved here. This kind of weather would be nice every year. Wish I could find a place that was like this. Then again, there is a place that's normally like this. Humboldt county, but unfortuneately, I couldn't afford it on a good bet. Redding on the other hand is it's usual opressively hot self. It was ninety when I left the Driving Club meeting last night at nine-thirty. Unlike you poor folks in the east though, that's normal for Redding.

How did the party go Sis? Hope the Disco Donna outfit went over well.;):p

Hey there Ctay!

Happy re-birthday Aibrean!

I do hope you all have a great day!^_^

I'm going to a 1980's retro bachelorette party/dance tonight. I had a great time finding an outfit at Good Will. I graduated from high school in 1980. I'll be showing these young gals all the right moves - if my fibro lets me! ^_^

Have fun!!!

You know, I'm only 46 but the heat doesn't seem to bother me like it used to. Maybe I'm just not working outside as much in the Summer, but there seems to be a definite change in my tolerance to extreme heat.

I live pretty close to the beach and it RARELY gets over 85 here (or below 55). And I keep the A/C at 76 and the heat at 65 - but it's rarely doing anything because it's usually naturally pretty much in there). I LOVE sunny, warmer days. Shirt off, shorts, outside, taking it all in.... It was probably mid 70's at lunch time when I went outdoors.

I "melt" at about 85 and head for the air conditioning indoors.

It's about 108 here with the heat index.
It's ridiculous. It's hotter here than in Florida.

My patient, a really sweet 84 year old woman, was diagnosed with metastatic, aggressive lung cancer today. She has a year at best. :(
