  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Think I'll sit down here for a bit... (12)

Well...I bought a cork screw so I could open the bottle of red wine that my mom gave me. I don't have wine glasses, so I am using these super huge coffee cups. I poured half the bottle into my cup and half the bottle into my husbands cup. It is the perfect cup of wine.

No wine glasses? For shame!

When we got engaged, our presents from family were a set of wine glasses, a bottle stopper, a bottle opening set, and a cheese board.

I think they were trying to send us a message

I love turkey, more than chicken actually. I wish turkey had taken off as the big famous bird to eat.

We used to have some really nice crystal wine glasses...but pretty much anything that I had of value has been sold due to dire economic circumstances.

I am sure that things will turn around and one day we will have wine glasses again. But if not...coffee cups work just fine.

I know the feeling Byrne. I would have just as little if not for a few friends, here in Lewiston and on this forum. All the same, most of my stuff that's left (sold most of mine too) is in a storage unit. So, I still pay rent for my stuff, just can't use it.

What I'm rambling on about is that I feel for you.
Hopefully our country can pull out of this depression in spite of the government.

Never happen. Chickens are considerably more efficient and much, much easier to raise.

Thanks.

My van is my storage unit right now. The back is filled with boxes of stuff I haven't seen in over a year. When I finally get to unpacking them, I am sure that I will find some stuff that I thought was gone.

I love chickens...but I prefer the layers... I raised some broilers once, but slaughtering them was not a fun task...well, it wasn't the slaughtering that was so bad...but the plucking...eeewwww. But gathering eggs for breakfast each morning really is a joy. I miss living in the country.

We had a turkey, too...he was fun, but we ended up giving him to another family.

Everybody around me is sick! People at work, my mom, my sister, my dad, most of my friends. Anybody else experiencing this? It must be the allergies kicking in, I've noticed I feel like I'm starting to get a little sick myself latley...thankfully it hasn't caught up with me too much yet.

Stude, that turkey made my mouth water. Seems it was worth waiting for.

I guess I didn't realize your roommate was still around, but I can see how his issues make having an organized kitchen difficult. Hopefully, you'll be able to improve your situation soon.

Hi Matt - good to see you here again. Sorry about the illnesses.

I have a question for you. When you first came here (to TCL), looking for a church to join, were we poor witnesses to you? I know you joined a Lutheran church. Were we helpful in that in any way.....or were we a hindrance?

Why do you ask that? I'm confused. You guys were great to me, I'm happy you let me know the facts behind each church.

We have been told that we are poor witnesses to outsiders. I just wanted to hear how you felt when you first came here. Thank you for answering.

I felt great when I came here, I couldn't have asked for better people to talk too. You know what I think it is? Some people come on here and are not respectful enough of people in this community. They try to argue and do not listen to the advice they are given.

ROFLMAO!
Great way to make the Baptists and NDs spin!

The perfect backdrop to any Lutheran home...wine and beer.

We bought 2 cases on our way up from Florida.

UGH! My allergies are going nutzo this morning!
I left a window open last night and the air filter wasn't able to keep up with it all. No meds either! So, I'm going to have to figure something out before leaving for Church. As it is, I'm going to miss SS.
Gotta wait till this is under control before attempting to leave. Otherwise, I'll be sneezing and tooting all through the service.
